DRPD has very good service, there is also a fairly recent thread started by them.

My advice will cost you money. lol. I bought all the sizes of Bondhus that I could find. And, truthfully, I don't use them much at all. I typically want more torque and the bigger the size, the more that compounds.

Looks like they have the 6 piece set but not the 10 piece... will I regret getting the smaller set?
Unless you need the smaller sizes in the 10 piece set, the 6 is probably adequate.

I’ve got an incomplete craftsman set I picked up for cheap. Of course I learned after I took them out of the packaging that they have that dreaded smell. I want to get a set of the hard handle MACs just because I like the handles. Our MAC guy charges more than their website so I’ll just hunt some down on eBay or here.

If I was needing a single one or even a set these days I’d go to Napa and get the Carlyle brand. Great handles, great quality. Price maybe a bit steep but it’s better than most drivers that you can get other places.

I have fantasies that I may build another hot rod someday and I know Edelbrock uses Torx hardware on their carbs...
Do they use the sizes smaller than T10 on an Edelbrock? I am not certain that they do.

I think you’ll ok with the six piece PB set.

With Napa seemingly switching supplier for Carlyle tools it remains to be seen if they keep quality or make a run for quantity over quality.

For a shop fellow like yourself it makes sense as it is easy to warranty out.

For a homewrench, a different case scenario. Then again if I have to replace the tool more than once, I buy better quality.
Warranty is not much of a warranty if end product is ****.
My time is worth something to me.

I bought a set of Stanleys a decade or two ago. They have or what appears to be a black oxide finish of the steel driver.. no issues.

I needed a few more sizes and bought a Masterforce set from Menards. No issues yet.

A year ago Christmas I had a TSC gift card, I picked up a Gearwrench set. This set was the micro set, Phillips, straight and torx. All the torx were either single digit or up to T15. Not needed regularly but I did need a small T# and glad I had the set.

I believe this is the correct GW set.

I like the handles on the PB Swiss. Of course those are likely the most expensive except for Snap-On. (I like the traditional Snap-On hard handles too BTW. But do they even sell them anymore?)
Cat do the hard handle ones.

I was unaware of a supplier change. That is disappointing to hear.

I use T25 &T27 on my Harley-Davidson all the time and i have some Thorsen that I’ve had for years . If I would buy a set I probably would buy Wera or Bondhus.

I picked up a Craftsman professional driver in T20 just to get the handle. Really comfortable so I keep an eye out for others.

Didn't know they offered those in Torx. You might want to check those out.

I like using T-Handle torx tools. Same access capability as screwdriver but way better torque application. Head down to your local Harbor Freight and get the ICON ones. Especially when they are on sale. Access is pretty good with these as they have two different ways to attack fasteners. Don't forget to grab the metric & standard hex bit T-Handles while your at it. You can thank me later.

I have the proto set previously posted, it works good. The first decision I would make is what style handle, square or tri lobe? Other factors would be ease of warranty, price, country of origin.

I have an old Proto red handle set and a Bondhus set. Both are great, as I imagine any set would be. These aren't high torque tools.

I started with the USA Menards house brand, then added whatever better ones I found at estate sales (mostly Wiha).

I was wrong, they are Vermont American.

I upgraded with those Cman Professional which were clearance and added the Masterforce not long ago.

Tekton high torque torx is where it's at

US made AND slightly less than ONE off the truck? Plus, all the sizes I need (including T27--which many sets skip)--SOLD. I've looked at Tekton's screwdriver range on the past few Rural King trips, but never really bought one. Definitely getting the Torx set, as well as some common Phillips and slotted sizes I use. Heck, I may replace the few acetate handles that still see regular use with both the Torx and standard (Phillips/slotted) sets--looks like that's only going to be about $60 total.

Tekton's Torx might be good (I've never used them) but their slotted screwdrivers absolutely **** because they are straight, and fairly steep, wedges with not even a hint of hollow grinding. Good if you use them as pry bars or beat he **** out of them but useless for turning slotted screws as they slip right out.

Wiha proturn set is pretty nice. Discontinued unfortunately but they were very reasonably priced if you’re into scouring the web for a set

Don't stop there, what slotted do you like?

Some that match your criteria include

PB swiss, Grace, and Chapman.

I think grip edge but can't check for a bit...

My Tekton, vessel, and Craftsman look the same to me. Vessel bits might be hollow ground.

Or maybe this should be a post on its own

OK, here are some pictures showing Tekton on Tekton crime. The top photo is a TOPTUL magnetic bit holder which isn't fair as the bits are very pronouncedly hollow ground. The middle screwdriver is the hard red handled Tekton which has what I consider to be a normal taper used by most companies on slotted screwdrivers. The bottom screwdriver is the soft handled Tekton, which I think they get from Mayhew, which is basically a wedge. TOPTUL's normal screwdrivers are very similar to the red handled Tekton.

I do believe that the Tekton bits are hollow ground even if their regular drivers are not. Can't check my sets at the moment. I believe the same is true for vessel;

PB swiss is probably the best of both worlds in this regard.

I have Wiha. IMO, their drivers are awesome, readily available, and very fairly priced for the quality you get.
I also have an older Wiha set I really like. It's the red plastic "power handle" style, similar to the Snap-on hard handle.
