Good Value Torx Socket Set?

While I was working on my lawnmower yesterday I snapped my T40 Torx Socket from Harbor Freight. Considering it's the second largest in the set, I'm thinking I'll have worse luck with the smaller sizes when the time comes that I need them. So I'm looking to get better ones. I was hoping for suggestions on a good value set. I don't wrench professionally so I don't need a top of the line set, but I'd like one that will last. It looks like SK has a set that seems pretty nice but is around 80$ and that's probably a bit high for me to spend given the amount of use it'll get. Are there any sleeper sets out there that are surprisingly nice for less than 80$?

The power torque at oreilly are awesome. I have a set of the impact and I snapped one last week and they replaced the whole set and I use em as a pro

VIM are the "best" as far as value. I have Capri/Neiko and their hex and torx bits are all well made for the $15 off Amazon. I don't use them often or professionally.

I agree, the Vim set for the price is the best one out there. Use mine constantly and haven't broke one yet

As others have posted VIM, is a great choice.

However, Cripe often has Gearwrench Torx sets that are a great deal.

VIM is a great choice, I have them. Gearwrench is also great, I have them as well.

I would recommend both, whichever has a complete set to meet your needs, and correct price point. You cant go wrong with either.

I found this one:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ESN02G2/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I've got a Capri Triple Square/XZN set that seems pretty nice and I'm wondering if their Torx are better than the HF ones.

Otherwise this is probably a good coverage set from VIM:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LQG3A4/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Not sure which ones I'll get yet but one of the two looks like a good option. Not sure I have room in my socket drawer for another big blow mold case though... I'll have to do some moving around. The only thing that would make these better is if any were impact rated since I do use my little 1/4" Bosch impact driver for lawnmower work sometimes and while the normal chrome sockets seem to hold up fine I wouldn't try it on a normal torx bit.

These things always strike me as a lot of money for what they are!

Trouble is, they seem to be the one tool where the price you pay is proportional to the quality you get!

I've tried a few of the Taiwanese ones, with various names on them, and broken or twisted at least one from each brand!

Snap On are superb, and I'm switching to these as funds allow (and as they come up on special) mainly 'cos I've got a few used ones that have taken abuse without problems!

I've also got some German made Stahlwille which are also great, but I suspect little cheaper than Snap On in the U.S. Same can probably be said of Hazet.

Best value here in the U.K. is probably KoKen, which seem very tough, but cheaper than either of the above!

I have a set I got from Auto Zone. Duralast brand. They look IDENTICAL to the Cornwell (VIM) set I have in my box at the shop. I use the Duralast set in my service van tool set. They have been used pretty hard and have lasted surprisingly well. I remember them saying made in Taiwan and so is VIM so maybe they are the same. They sure do look the same. They were less that $30 if I remember correctly. It was a 12pc set. Here is the link. Says 31.99 but I know I paid less. http://www.autozone.com/screwdrivers/driver-bit/duralast-12-pcs-star-bit-set/914172_0_0/

I bought them because I needed them to finish a job on the road and Auto Zone was the only place close by. I have been very happy with their performance. No twisted or broke bits. I use the t50 the most for seat belt bolt . And that thing barely looks used.

I have the Blue Point master set. Have yet to break one. I've used the living **** out of the T30 long 1/4" on Honda Airbag recalls. I'm not sure if Williams has the same set on Ebay.

Basic bang for the buck

http://www.menards.com/main/tools-h...-torx-reg-bit-socket-set/p-2347306-c-9159.htm

I bought for 12.99 but went on sale for 9.99

And a lifetime warranty

The set I got from HF was also 9.99, and also has a lifetime warranty. It looks about identical to that one. The issue is, it broke while I was using it and luckily it was as I finished tightening the last jam nut. If it had broke on the previous nut I woulda been screwed and had to go get another one. I am hoping to get something that won't break when I'm using it. I will still go get my replacement T40 socket from HF though next time I'm in there as a backup.

I'm really leaning towards the Capri set since it looks pretty complete and like I said the XZN set I bought from them seems pretty nice. I know more people have experience with the VIM stuff though and they are OEM for some of the tool trucks so I'm really on the fence. At the same time I'm trying to decide satin or full polish on the Wrightgrips I'm ordering in the same order. Indecision 2015!

When they go on sale at Canadian Tire I stock up on the sets. 9.99 on sale, lifetime warranty. I've got enough Torx bits to last me the rest of my days I think.

As mentioned, the Duralast would be a great option if you have a Vatozone close by. Their Duralast line is mostly Taiwanese and of good quality. I like how comprehensive the VIM sets are though.

I have the Gearwrench Master Torx bit set and have no complaints. It's at least 5 years old at this point and I have yet to break one. It's $98 at Sears now, but comes down to ~$56 pretty frequently:http://www.sears.com/gearwrench-36-...150327xVigLink&aff=Y&PID=6147012&AID=11042411

VIM bits are a great value as well. I have their XZN and hex bits. My only gripe with them is a few of the bits are crooked in the socket holder. 3 bits out of 3 full sets. Two were very minor, but one was pretty bad. I called VIM and they sent out a replacement for the worst one. I didn't notice the other two at the time, but they likely would have been replaced as well.

I went with the VIM set over the Capri. Since I have the Capri XZNs I thought maybe I could do a comparison review or something between them. We shall see on Thursday!
