I wear Dickies 874s all day every day. Love them. Also have had good luck with craftsman brand work pants.

I buy the guide gear denim jeans form the Sportsmans guide. Been wearing them for about 3-4 years and they last as good as any other brands I've had (maybe a little better). They have a double faced carpenter pants in denim and cotton canvas those should last a while.

They also have thinsulate lined (Very nice, no extra pockets though :() and flanel lined.

Whatever is $10 a pair at the store. No sense in spending big bucks IMO.

For work check with the safety people, some places don't allow other than 100% cotton now. Where my Dad works they banned the blue/green/brown dickies pants (polyester). Heat will melt them right to you. :shocking:

I just bought a pair of Dickies work jeans, I'm going to try them tomorrow motor swapping an old Ford pickup outside in the mud. If they survive that, they're winners! $20 at Walmart.

I've tried using retired "regular" jeans in the shop and they never last. I loved the old AE carpenter jeans but they're all shredded to pieces now. They last about 3 seconds under a shower of grinder sparks!

Whatever fits me from the $2 table at the thrift shop.

Clerk, "You realize that shirt has paint spots on it, don't you?"

My wife, "Nobody will be able to see them after they are covered with oil stains."

We use aramark at work and after I washed my uniforms at home a few times they are nice and soft but the polyester isn't super warm and doesn't hold up to flame/sparks very well... Cheap jeans are always a good choice as are coveralls... Depends on what type of work your doing

Walmart sells there "own" line of Dickies clothing. Side by side the differences are obvious with the real Dickies a heavier and more durable item in most cases.

Dickies are made in many factories local to me, so area swap meets often have some deals, Dickies online has regular sales, and once or twice a year a big clearance sale.

ive never found any uniform company pants that held up very well or that would come clean after 6 months.

i bought a couple pairs of dickies brand "uniform" pants when we were racing, that held up pretty good for 3 years.

even working in the garage i get filthy, jeans never seem to come clean. i have a few pairs of old aramark work pants, thrift stores around here have a pretty good selection of uniform pants, usually under $5 a pair
if i'm doing a lot of cutting and welding, i throw on a set of welders "greens", found the pants and jacket for under $10 at a thrift store.

I rent mine from Ameripride, 3 bucks a week gets me 11prs of 100% cotton dickies style pants and 100% cotton long sleeve shirts. They wash them for me, so I can roll in the grease, and when there worn out they replace them.

I tried going with my own clothes when I first started this job, and I was afraid of grease, had to wash them at home and screw up the washer, wore all the pants out in under year, and was generally a big headache. I think the price avgs out, and might even be a better deal in the long run.

I order carhartt Dickiey's here
http://www.toughweld.com/
A little slow on delivery and i believe they have a black friday deal
So you order two separate brands?

Carhartt double front work dungaries were the original.

Hamilton Carhartt founded Carhartt in 1889 with his initial product being a pair of overalls for railroad engineers, the first of its kind.

Dickey's Work Wear (originally U.S. Overall Company) was founded in 1918.

edit:

My workwear of choice is, and always has been, Carhartt. I haven't owned a pair of bluejeans in going on 15 years; double front work dungaries are the only thing I have in my drawer. And I guess now my work duffel is populated with Carhartt FR, much better then Bulwark for fit.

K-mart has a line of cheap jeans for "larger" sizes. They are like $19 and they wear pretty well. For the winter I get a couple pair a bit larger and wear fleece sweat pants under them. Keeps me nice and warm.

They may not be made in the US but I bought a couple pairs of tactical pants that were seconds from LA Pixels gear for 13 bucks. They are ripstop and have plenty of pockets, a zipper fly and are cheap.

I was thinking of getting a pair of EMT pants. Anyone ever wear those?

I wore the Cargo pants like the EMTs wear for awhile. Just found myself hauling a bunch of stuff around when I didnt need to. I sat at my desk one day and my Fluke meter gave me an IV in the side of my leg. Sometimes less is just better.

Everything Carhartt; summer carpenter shorts, spring/fall regular jeans, winter insulated jeans. Last shorts I bought for less than $20 on sale. Haven't bought pants lately.

Before that I wore Levis. I get better than double the life from my Carhartts. When they do get tatty they don't just completely fall apart like Levis.

If you look they have at least a couple different styles. The one's I wear are straight leg and cut like a normal jean.

Just an FYI, Carhartt has lifetime warranty on zippers. Last winter I sent in a coat that was far from new, but too good to pitch and they installed a new zipper for free.
