Here is Duluth Tradings work pants made out of firehose material, as they state "We dare you to wear them out", I have a few pieces of their firehose clothing and all I can say is "there is non-tougher". They have the crotch gusset to give your stuff more room, as I was tired of getting my junk crunched when I moved.

Clothing manufacturers should give people the option of an extra loose fit with high rise. Even if it costs 10 times the regular price.

They aren't exactly stylish, nor are they tailored to perfection, but Roundhouse Jeans are durable, feature enough damned belt loops to hold your pants where they belong even if you get soaked while wearing five multi-tools and a pistol, and are extremely free moving and comfortable.

They're also $30 or so and made in the USA by a wonderfully old manufacturer.

Can't beat them for value, and you're supporting American manufacturing.

If you need anything tougher than that you're going to be looking into Filson or whatever color BDU/ACU/Whocares you prefer. Beyond that, you're looking into forestry and outdoor clothing; which is still Filson's wheelhouse, actually.

Carhartt pants aren't nearly as tough as their fantastic hoodies and other over-garments, so I wouldn't go that way. Dickies are comparable, so I'd avoid those as well. You're asking for durability, after all.

I would stay away from Duluth fire hose stuff. It looks like it came out of the back of a van in a Nairobi alley, and it shrinks several sizes in the wash. Total ****. Shame, because the crotch gusset really does work as advertised.

7 years later he says.... :bounce:

Sometimes it's worth bringing a thread back to see if anything has changed.

Actually, this is the first forum I've been to where I wish like hell people would do that instead of posting the same useless **** nobody reads six thousand times.

Eliminate all the duplicate and useless information here, and you could count the threads left in each category without having to use your toes.

I wear the blue work pants the uniform company provides. They fit loose and are not restrictive. I have been wearing them so long that they now feel like a part of me. I even wear them when working at home. They come in several different brands but all seem to fit the same. And the best part is I don't have to wash them, just drop them off in the receptacle on Monday morning and pick up a clean set at the end of the day. The ones I'm wearing now just have a UniFirst tag on them but the last set I had were RedCap brand. If I did not have a service anymore I would try and purchase these same pants.

My job gives me 5-11 tactical cargo pants that hold up pretty well. I have had screw drivers go though the cargo pockets or back pockets and they have not torn.

How can you not read something 6000 times? :dunno:

I wear Dickies 874s all day every day. Love them. Also have had good luck with craftsman brand work pants.

This^. I tried denim work shorts from several brands and they all shred within a year or so, I have a couple pair of Dickies 874 from 1998 that still wear almost weekly. All of my best lasting/wearing work pants and shorts are standard Dickies from walmart.

I've been wearing Duluth Trading 5 pocket Fire Hose pants for the past 6+ years and have never had any shrink. I've worn out at least three pair, which have all been replaced under their warranty.

My plan is to stay at this size so I can make these my last work pants purchases!

I read it, realized it was grammatically incorrect, and just left it in there like a stooge.

My excuse is acute, rapid-onset laziness and the subsequent nap time.

I'd rather they just lock old threads. Far too many on this forum don't read the date or past the 1st post and then proceed to try and solve a problem that is 7 years old and was already solved back in post #x. Better in my opinion to start a new thread and then link to old threads when necessary.

Agreed, the most comfortable pants I've ever owned, all I wear in the garage anymore. They also have ones with kneepad pockets for slip in knee pads.

Black Dickies carpenter jeans. I was pretty nervous at first because they are stiff as a board when you buy them but, wash em a few times and you're good to go! If you want shorts just cut a pair off and have your favorite person that knows how to sew put a new hem along the new bottom edge.

Another plug for the Roundhouse made in the USA stuff. I bought both jeans and canvas carpenter pants. Heavy duty, company seems great.

I used to be a Duluth trading company fan, crutch gusset very comfy. I really think the quality went down when they massively expanded the company. Now more a fashion statement than a solid work option.

My singular issue with my Roundhouse jeans is the extra few minutes of interior trimming work for which I'd have been happy to pay ten more bucks.

But, if they want to hit that import price, you'll just need to break out some scissors and cut a few strings. It was a good compromise to remain competitive in the modern world.

Hell, maybe they leave it like that on purpose for some reason. I'll have to ask. It doesn't hurt anything; it's just "finishing" type stuff, and it's inside anyway.

Hell, if that keeps them in the USA, good on them. There are companies who arguably manufacture higher quality jeans, but you're getting that extra mile of work, and you pay a hell of a lot for it; well over $100 sometimes.

Roundhouse doesn't bother. You're going to tear your work pants up anyway, so they give you quality out of the gate, but don't make you pay for stuff that won't help get a job done.

Other high end trouser manufacturers tend to make jeans that fit properly from a style perspective. That's great, but not under a car or in a field.

Make no mistake, Roundhouse jeans are not going to cause your *** to become an asset in a club. They aren't vanity-sized, either.

You're going to find out that you need to lose a little more than you've been telling yourself when you see the number on your waist.

Think you wear a 34? Hehe... These are benchmark sizes; not the fashion sizes that even Carhartt uses.

You'll read the truth on that tag.

Same here, got some of the fire hose flex and I like them even more than the regular. I've had 1 regular, 1 lined and 1 flex replaced under their warranty as well.
