Good XZN set?

Hi all,

I have a four piece XZN set that I've had for ages but it seems that now you need at least 10 sizes? May be time to step up my tool game. Are Neiko branded ones any good, they seem very inexpensive but are Taiwan made if I am not mistaken? Any others? I'm definitely not a pro, just want to make sure I can work on my car if I have to.

Check out the vim set. I’m fairly certain Cornwell rebadged them and possibly Mac too. I’ve had a set for some years used professionally, have held up great.

Forget cheap and cheerful, go with quality for spline and torx.

Mine are a mix of Mac and Facom (Same company)

I take it that your working on a German brand of vehicle?

11piece for 30 as opposed to 10 for 25. I guess its probably similar but I dunno how good the Capri are, while Vim are tried and true.

+1 on this.... I hate Taiwanesium, but I picked these up for a one-off job, and was fairly impressed. Don't know if they'll hold up under extensive use, but this one is definitely worth it for limited use!

It's missing the 7mm from the VIM set, but the 16/18 are tamperproof (if you need that, I didn't for my project)... Don't know if the VIM have that feature?

VW and Porsche have been using them for the CV joint to output flange bolts for decades. Pretty sure I needed them for my '84 Scirocco and GTI, so they likely have been in use since the 70s if not earlier. Somewhere in my memory recesses my brain tells me that the rear axle for a Porsche 944 was shared with a VW Thing, so likely even earlier.

Trying to remove those bolts with an Allen wrench is a recipe for sadness.

I've been driving VWs, Porsches, and BMWs almost exclusively since I graduated college. But it wasn't until recently that I realized that I might need more than the four sizes I've had forever - in fact I'm pretty sure I only ever used one of them (for the CV joint bolts)

VIM 18 is Tamper Proof, the 16 is not.
