I am in the process of replacing my redwood decking which has been down for about 10 years,with composite decking. I am having a super problem getting out the deck screws. I have purchased the Pro Grabbit tools and still have not been able to remove them. One of the problems is that the swrews are countersunk and filled with the various kinds of deck paint etc. Is there anyone out there that can help me?
Another question, would it be possible, providing I can get the screws out to turn the existing boards upside down? These are pretty good quality redwood boards.

Try soaking the area over the screw head with paint remover. If it is successful in softening the paint, etc. you should be able to get the screw driver bit into the screw through the softened paint and back them out. Turning the board over to re- use them is a great idea.
