Just got a coating bid for our 800 sqft garage. $5500. Very little concrete repairs needed. Does this seem high? I would prefer not to do a coating product myself as grinding sounds like a real mess. I could tile my floor two times at this price. Thoughts? Attached pic of the garage. You will see the failed Home Depot epoxy job.

That seems to be about right, somewhere in the middle between the low end bidders that come in around $5.50 sq/ft and the high end which seems to be around $7.50 sq/ft.

Make sure you are getting a Polyspartic clear coat as it does not yellow as epoxy will do. And I am also assuming you are getting a Full Broadcast Flake to Rejection.

Those marble looking swirled epoxy/metallic jobs come in CHEAPER.

What type of materials are they using and how many coats? There is a lot more that determines whether a coating quote is good or not other than price.

I had a Arizona Polymer Flooring 2-Day Granitex (full broadcast) epoxy floor done in 2016. Paid $2400 for 450 sq. ft. including full prep grinding, etching and application. This was done by a pro who had certified training from the OEM manufacturer. (Located in the So Cal desert area.)
