I did a very small amount of work on a friend's car. I wasn't going to charge him, but he tossed two ratchets my way as payment. He knows jack about..well, anything requiring him to use his hands, so he said he's had these for about ten years and hasn't used them. He doesn't even have sockets, lol. He *thinks* they were an impulse buy at an auto parts store, but he isn't sure.
I count 41 teeth. Bone dry, no grease, no residue at all. The only marking is on the 3/8. It just says "CHROME VANADIUM TAIWAN," which infuriates me. They aren't really trashy, so I'd expect more than that kind of generic stamp. I'm guessing the retailer requested no markings because they didn't want the manufacturer to be known. The 1/4 isn't as nice on the head as the 3/8. No finger knob, drive side face has a rougher finish. It feels reeeeeeally solid, though. Both ratchets have a hell of a nice finish on the handle that the camera isn't doing justice.
These aren't terrible. They both feel better to use than your standard Craftsman USA RP from the same timeframe...but what doesn't?
Any ideas?
