Hi All,

So I have 3 quotes, full flake coverage. They range between 5 & 6200 before tax. The one that interests me the most is mid ranged price at $5300.

Sadly, I'm not comparing apples to apples, the other 2 quotes are for epoxy. The quote I'm most interested in is for a floortex polyaspartic floor coating system with vinyl flakes and an urathane top coat.

The quote includes :
1 layer polyaspartic floor coating
1 layer vinyl flakes
1 layer urathane top coat

I'm surprised they are using an urathane top coat instead of polyaspartic topcoat. I'm no expert, is this as good as a polyaspartic top coat?

This quote works out to 6.50 cdn a sq foot.

What does everybody think?

To put it in perspective you could do a random broadcast system for $1300 or full broadcast for $2400. https://www.garageflooringllc.com/polyurea-garage-floor-coating-kits/ Once you have that in mind it is time to go back and look at what else you are getting

What prep will they do?
What percentage of solids?
Primer?
Chemical resistance chart?
Are they filling the joints? Cracks?
Do they have references in the area?
What is their warranty and process?

Hi Justin ,

Thank you so much for getting back to me. They are grinding floor and filing some very minor expansions at the end of the expansion cuts. Warranty is a 10yr, in our area Toronto, Ontario I'm seeing warranties between 5 - 20 yrs.

To be honest I don't really put much weight on a 20 year warrenty, business probably won't even be around by then.

The product is Rhino Floortex™ or another name is Rhino FastFloor. I can't find on there site where it says percentage of solids.

In Orlando...
Grind, Repair, 100% Solids Base Coat, Flake to Rejection, 90% Solids Polyaspartic
$5.50-6.00 psqft

Epoxy is a great base for this system. Slower cure, more penetration.
If the clear is less than 90% solids, it will require (2) coats or will be a dirt trap!!

Good luck and here is a shot from our crew this past week doing the same floor.

You do have to take into consideration if the prices your have above are in U.S. dollars, which I assume they are, you have to add 30% for exchange rate, the cost of shipping, duty and if that is a tax in price from the OP up to 13% in sales tax on the materials you are quoting so you are now probably closer to $4000 Canadian just for materials for full broadcast.

Yeah I did not see that part when I replied. The price difference would not be that extreme but point taken.

I would get some references I agree re warranty.

Hi K13,

Ya, that's why I don't think it's such a bad deal. I'm probably darn close to $4,000 buy the time I get the material, required tools and rent grinders etc...

I tried to find suppliers here in Ontario but seem to be able to.

Hi, your installed price seems reasonable in Ca dollars. If you decide to do it yourself we can duplicate this as a kit for $2.25 per square foot but we would include the required two coats of topcoat. One coat of topcoat on a full broadcast is not satisfactory unless as noted above it's a very high solids topcoat.

Just wanted to update everybody, I decided to go with the company I said I was interested in. I called the sales guy and he returned my call on Saturday and matched a cheaper quote and revised his quote ON HIS DAY OFF!

Also, I know somebody who has used this company twice now in 2 different garages. I will post pics and company name when job is done at the end of May :)

Thank you, everybody, for the input.
