My neighbor is tearing down an old house and called me over to look at this bench. About 10 feet long, 4x4 inch legs very solid top. Told me get it out of the house and it was mine. So the wife and I (gotta love the little lady) dug it out from all the **** piled in the house and got it over to my shop.

I put my parts bin storage on it as well as a drill press, sander and scroll saw. Worked out really nice and freed up a lot of space in other parts of my shop.

So how did you get it home and how long did it take?

The neighbor has a tractor with a front loader on it. So I drove it across the street to the house and the wife and I slipped it onto the bucket.

Back across the street and over to my shop, dropped it at the door. Easy Peasy.

The bench was originally out at Tinker AFB. So I guess that explains the sturdy build. I really do like the thing, it was worth digging out of the wreckage inside the house. The house will be gone in a week, so close call.

And yes I went through the house for other goodies, small house, not much to search. The roof was gone in a big way and water has gotten in just about everywhere but where the bench was sitting. All the rubbish on top of it protected it.

I also scored a two inch square, thick walled steel tube about ten feet long, never been used. Surface rust only, no pitting. It was laying in the yard.

Nice bench! The wife sounds like a keeper too!

Tell us about the light fixture on the bench? It's interesting looking.

Cheers

Jim

Thank you. She even likes to go to the hardware and tool stores! Keeper indeed.

The light is from an old school drafting table. It has a circular fluorescent light and an incandescent bulb in the center. I had a bunch of them mounted at my old work location to light up the the T1 telco frame racks and patch panels.

Did you have plans to mount all the power tools before you got the bench or after you had it and decided what to use it for?

I am hoping that I will be able to use the tools there on the bench. I have the power cables all ******* and stored so as not to get into the way. I have not mounted them to the bench top yet, I am not sure if they will work out as they are. The drill press is mounted to the bench.
