Got a MIG finally!!!

I'm pretty happy. I picked up a MIG welder today for $100. Not the deal of a century, but I think it's just what I need for doing body work on my 62 healey sprite! Here is what I got....has regulator, a few extra tips, drive wheels, some wire, etc. Not one of the big 3( Miller, Hobart, Lincoln...okay 4...Esab)...but the price was right and looked to be in good shape!

If you are planning to do body work, you're gonna want to ditch the flux core and get some sheilding gas. I've been doing some homework on this lately and this is the general consensus.

Most definately plan to use gas. Flux is just too sloppy for body work. It's been a few years since I welded. Hopefully it's like riding a bike!!!

I have a 130 amp SIP mig, great tool, very useful for smaller welding jobs. The biggest mistake I made was not experimenting with the settings enough, and I spent a year or so doing bodywork on my hot rod with the wire speed too high. I laid down some garbage welds like that before I finally got around to trying a bunch of different settings, and reduced the wire speed by about 50%. Welds far better now. DOH!

I just got a regulator and my tank filled for the little lincoln i bought and it welds much better, i definitly recomend it.
