got a new to me compressor. i need a little help

alright well i picked up a used speedaire compressor with new motor and pressure switch its a made in usa compressor its a 80 gallon 2 stage with a 5 horse motor. anyway the problem is i got it wired up and it runs and pumps awesome but on the pressure switch there is a small lever that when it gets up to pressure opens up a schrader valve and lets air out until the pump comes back on then it closes. so im trying to figure out if something is backwards or if this is the unloader and i have a bad check valve or what? and if its the check valve can somebody point out to me ware its at.

Bad check, if she shuts down and continues to bleed.

do you mind posting the link again it braught me to grainger but not the correct part. and does that mean the lever is for the unloader? thanks again for the help.

oh never mind it came up now ill order it right away. but still does that mean it is part of the unloader im new to good compressors my old one was a 30 gallon oiless.

Check your sizes (pipe thread and such)
Yours is different than the one I first posted

The unloader valve is the schrader valve you spoke of, it's ok

This is the one I posted first note the tube goes in straight, yours looks like female pipe threads on top with a tubing 90* fitting. take a good look

Oh I see yea mines a longer run and looks bigger. I realy apre Kate the help I was stumped.

Cool I went out and took mine apart and cleaned it and it works perfect now!!
