So, my Mac MB199 has been driving me nuts almost since I bought it. Not that it is itself a bad piece of kit, but the two-wing sliding top and shallow main top cavity are not that great for my work flow.

I really really LOVE the self-closing drawers, the down side being that the tracks for the top sections are exposed and were often getting jammed with dirt and ****. I was constantly cleaning them and re-lubricating them. Also, the tops do not flip open very high (I believe they only open 70 degrees or so), and are themselves so shallow I could hardly fit anything in them. Also, they do not stay open on their own, and moving the cart with them extended is awkward as heck and way too large, and if I'm in the middle of something I have too much **** in the middle for them to close. Annoying!

So, the new workhorse is a Matco (I believe a JSC750? Don't remember right now)

The tools are generally where they are going to stay, but they need a little more organizing - I got everything transferred in the last half hour of work Friday.

The Matco cart uses adjustable slides, which are OK but I really loved those MAC self-closing slides. The Matco is also a lot taller (which is nice - I'm 6'5") It also has Tool-box grade casters (my dealer switched to 4 swivels instead of the 2 and 2 it came with at my request). It rolls ridiculously easily, almost like its floating on air. The top also accommodates my large prybar without issue - first time ever! I normally have to walk across the shop to get it when I need it. All in all, I'm quite pleased with the quality and utility of it so far.

Are those the wrench organizers from tooltopia? How do you like them? Nice cart, I would prefer 4 caster wheels on my cart too.

If you don't mind me asking. How much was the cart? I've been looking to replace mine as well.

I have had my Matco cart well my second for a couple years now I think it might be. I was informed they are allegedly lifetime warranty now too. I just got a new Matco driver and someone from corporate was with him the first week I needed new slides for one drawer the detent broke (again) and I asked how much is this gonna cost cause the one year warranty was up the corporate guy said no they have the same warranty as our Jamestown tool boxes lifetime so I am pleased more so now with it.

The wrench organizers are about a million years old, I have no idea where I got them. One says "SK", the other is unmarked.

Per my Matco guy, the slides, detents, shocks, and casters have a lifetime warranty. If I crush the box or damage the paint it is my problem.

The Mac cart I traded in was only a year old, and the Matco guy had been sitting on this cart for a long time. Apparently someone ordered it and didn't like the color (Silver vein blue metallic). With the trade, and me purchasing the side shelf and casters I ended up with a bill of $325. Not bad. I believe it 'retails' for about $1850 without those additions.

Spent some down time today welding together some Harbor Freight spray can holders and attaching better magnets. I liked the idea of the t-track on the Mac cart, but I didn't make nearly as many things as I thought I would for it - just a glove holder.

Its $325 AND my old cart....which also retails at about $1800.

But yeah, the Mac and Matco guys are going at it my area...apparently one guy sold a toolbox to a tech that the other dealer considered "his" and had been pricing toolboxes with said tech for a few weeks. The dealer that didn't sell a tool box apparently told that tech to pay off his bill and never come back on his truck (or so the story goes). Bottom line, they are playing a stupid, and I imagine unprofitable war with each other...but I'll reap the benefits with a smile. Meanwhile the Snap-on guy wonders why nobody is buying from him. :headscrat

I don't reward ***-hat-ness.
