Well I finally got a tool box. This will replace my two 20"ish carry boxes and peg board that was over crowded.

It was a xmas gift from my folks (they like to go all out for Christmas ...I get a phone call maybe lunch on birthdays). Its 30" wide and 18" deep roughly. Made by montazuma and is stainless construction. Only place I've seen them for sale is atwoods farm and ranch. These are not even listed on montazumas page.

Seem pretty well built to me especially for me being homeowner (less than a year so far) and hobbyist wrench spinner.

Well here is a crappy 1st cell phone pic.

Where be good place to look for some rubber matting to put between top and bottom box? I figure best to do it now before I start filling it

Looks nice. U can use a rubber floor mat or mud flap. U can buy tool box mats from snapon and others but can be pricy and ull never see it.

Your toolbox is terrible and you should feel terrible.

Just kidding. Glad you like it, now show it to us full!

Those stainless boxes always look so smart.... Now hurry up and get your mat, fill it up
and take some pictures...

Gotta say, that is one fine gift from your folks, and a thoughtful one as you're a new home owner.

Yes, it beats sweaters. My mother learned long ago to get me stuff I need and use. Soon as I get a mat between the boxes tomorrow I will start filling it.

As for the horse mats they might be to think (3/8-1/2 if I remember right, I've installed several in barns and trailers). But I think between hardware, lowes, and the industrial supply in town ill find something.

I'm excited, thanks for the complements!

Stall mats are great for flooring because they are .75 inch thick, but might be a bit too heavy duty for in between the boxes. how about a mat that they put under ellipticals and treadmills on craigslist that you can cut to size because those are only about 1/4 inch thick.

Have fun filling it and remember to do something nice for your parents.

You are lucky to have parents that "get it". Great score. Try checking with an industrial rubber supply company. They will have conveyor belting of different sizes, and they might have used belting they'll give you. Ken.

Pretty box, but how many baby DeLoreans had to die to make it? :)

For drawer liner (and for between boxes) I use 1/8" neoprene sheet bought by the yard at my local independent industrial supply. It, along with the other thicknesses they carry, is also good for making odd gaskets that you either can't wait for, or can't get at all.

Best to you with the new box.
Great price.

May you have it for a long time.
Use it in good health.

(Just a suggestion, in the future don't ever sell or trade it away no matter what.
There's something about always having your first tool box.)

Hit the plumbing section at lowes/home depot and get some of the shower pan sheet.

Im not exactly sure of the dimension, but its probably...1/16th thick? But it is very durable.

There is also orange rubber matting....forget what it is called, that is about 1/8th thick. Also in plumbing.

At Lowes, shower pan material is with the shower/tub surrounds, and the orange material is next to the plumbing tools.

Back in my young days I used the orange material to isolate the licence plate from the mounting hardware when I had speakers in the trunk. It worked very well.

Picked up some 1/8" thick rubber gasket material (36" wide off the roll sold by the pound) for the industrial supply house. I wanted black. Just need trim to size then start adding my tools! :D
