I saw this on Facebook. It’s near me but way outta my price and knowledge range.
Hopefully someone will turn it into a museum.
Illinois Blacksmith Shop
This is a virtual time machine of a building. After the first Blacksmith shop burnt to the ground in 1917, this 120 x 60 brick building one was built. The shop is located in Meredosia, IL on the Illinois River. As you can see from the picture, you literally step back in time. Everything in this shop is original to the building with the exception of a few items. This is a complete and fully functioning blacksmith shop. The brick structure is 100% solid. No tuck pointing needed. The roof is solid and does not leak anywhere. There is a automobile ramp at the front entry door that is weighted. You can drive up or down stairs. Vehicles... including firetrucks have been stored on the second floor. Farrier's horse rack with original swing arms are in the basement as shown. The complete drive line and belting system is in good working order. This building not only was a blacksmith shop, but a Red Crown Gas station, a shop for the local Chevrolet garage and numerous other things on the second floor over the years. But one thing always stayed intact, the blacksmith shop portion. You will not find a more complete shop in the country. As the pictures show, it truly is one of a kind. Everything from original bathroom signs to ledgers and books go with the sale of the building.
Nothing is for sale individually. Your messages will go unanswered, so don't waste your time asking. Building and blacksmithing contents are for sale. $100,000
Anything that was original to the building will be included in this sale. Message for viewing by appointment only.
