Got another set of Martin sockets!

I just got another set sockets from Martin Tools through Amazon yesterday. I ordered the MB14K set, which are 3/8 drive, 6pt metric sockets. Over the past week, I have had some opportunity to put the standard 3/8 drive set I ordered to use, and I've been very pleased with the finish and quality of the products. :thumbup:

The new set I ordered appears to have a minor imperfection in the chrome of the 8mm socket, but for what I plan to use them for, it's not something I am too worried about. Here's a few pics of the new sockets!

In the pic below, the 8mm socket appears to have some chrome warn away around the hole in the side of it. But other than that, it looks good.

I think I posted in another Martin thread... we used to use their Angle wrenches at my old work. They weren't beauty queens, but you could tell they were of good quality, and certainly got the job done. I used them almost daily for 10 years and never had an issue.

@DieselMike- Yep, made in USA. The lower portion of the last three got chromed, but the upper part (neck?) of the socket, didn't. But that's fine with me.

@VGA- $64.27 w/ free shipping.

@VintageFan- Yeah, I remember reading your post. They're not the prettiest sockets, but they seem to fit snug on my ratchets and feel solid, like they'll last a good long time, and that's what matters most to me.

I am curious why some sockets seem deeper than others. If you look at the second pic, you can see that the 12mm and 13 mm sockets (around the black electrical tape) are much more shallow than the rest.

I have their 7 piece body hammers and dolly set. They appear to be made well.

I ended up selling my project vehicle shortly after buying them and have yet to use them.

Peeling chrome, some sockets are not polished/from the same set (the smaller three are chromed, but weren't polished), different depths... other than that, they look great. The box looks cool. Is there a hole any sockets other than the 8mm?

Not trying to be a negative nelly, but that socket set looks janky. I have a few Martin hammers, and they're nice. Are sockets a new product from them?

thats what i was thinking. they look good individually, except the last three, but the odd depths throw me off. may be the strongest socket on the market, but the chrome problem on the last couple would be sent back if they were mine. fwiw

They are from wright and the 8mm is normal and just how they are made so there is no imperfections with those 3 sockets. I have the same set except straight from wright and they are same way chrome on bottom and satin on top they have been like that for decades. I have some branded IH International and are same way that's just how the smaller sizes are even in sae. Nice set by the way and great price I've not heard alit about Martin tools as they are not as popular as let's say Williams or snap on or even wright. I think they make an awesome product or at least sell them and would love to see them more often.

As with Powerkeg's ratchet, I /m sure the sockets were sourced thru Wright too.

Man, the sockets I really want are Wrights to begin with... I really have to give this set a good look. Thanks for the input. Now onto the search for the best price around... :willy_nil

I have old martin and fairmount wrenches as well as body hammers, they may not always fly with the many tool polishers around here but you can count on them to do what they were designed to do. Nice tools.
