Yep ,
Figured why not get hammered before lunch .. Hence this post is being done now.. LOL Just kidding . I finally sat down to do some posts. I had 6 hammers of various types needing new handles the three are old Pexto's Tack Hammer, Squaring Hammer, Riveting Hammer, 6Lb Sledge Head is a True Temper, The Ball Pein is a Champion and the slim body hammer is a no name. After I got done reshaping and such to fit them they were all "Dirty" .. so threw them in a bucket ( You will get negative rep If you believe I am cleaning them.. :} Just Kidding) Swelling the wood before sealing the ends and polyurethaning the handles.

Sure It will be tomorrow evening after work. I am building a collection speaking of which if anyone is out in Ohio http://mansfield.craigslist.org/fud/4735167838.html and no the lady will not mail stuff lol I called and asked. I use a mix of Boiled and a very thinned urethane it is very damp out here in the mid Atlantic it tends to make things mold some of these hammers are out in the larger garage / shop which has the temp and humidity of what ever it is out side lol . Everyone has their own means to their madness :}

If those are bare wood, get some BLO on the handles.

Lol I like your quote btw. The best one I heard from long ago was from a very crusty USAF CMSgt " I would rather have a daughter in a ***** house then be a sheet metal troop on an F4 base" I was told this when I was signing in didn't really know what he meant then lol 7 years later I did. Spent 23 years working on Air Frames. I did get out and got what... degrees in Computer Information Systems and Computer Network Engineering both of which live in my file cabinet and have nothing to do with my current employment. :}

Very nice be sure and see the following post for the maker of your unknown hammer:

Cypherian why don't you write up a nice post about all those companies and show them all your hammers pexto, champion, Malco, Dunlap and champion; everyone likes to learn about tools on the GJ.

Thanks again for showing me the hammer name plate stampings.:beer:

Hi again if you could get #9 slide to turn again and another close-up of the name I think I have one somewhere in my collection.
See Above I forgot to name that manufacturer. I have links to histories on most of these already so doing a post is well a lot work but I will go back and post the links next to each.

Well Boiled Linseed Oiled the heads and butts and thinned coat of poly on the handles. The sky did not fall .. well it is raining the ground did not shake though so I figure I am good :} Been doing it this way since I was shown it by my Grandfather 33 years ago . I did have one issue the boss kept staring at me and yelling strange things in German all while in his normal position of laying around ... sigh :}
