As it turns out, the source of the on-going problem with the Ranger is the little pluggie widget that plugs into the back of the distributor.
The heat in the engine compartment has been baking it for 30 years, and it doesn't stay securely plugged in to the distributor, causing the engine to "cut out" (or simply die) while driving down the road.
Already put a call in to Titus-Will Ford - no luck.
If I run a Google search, I come up with a plethora of sites - and honestly, I'm lost.
I really don't think my buddy wants to re-wire the whole truck, and I don't think I want to shell out $350 for a kit that I'm only going to use a bit of.
At least one of you has run into something like this. What was your source?
