Been watching the shelters, rescues and Craigslist for a few months waiting for something to catch my eye. There is certainly no shortage of pit bulls or Chihuahuas out there! Last week I found this ******* CL. She is a lab/shepherd mix according to her paperwork. She's 55 pound, 9 months old, chipped & spayed. Seems very intelligent. Came with the name "Nova" and responds well to it so I think we will keep it.

I will be the 3rd and hopefully the last owner for her. First owner had his home foreclosed on about 8 months after he got her. Then she moved on to a nice young couple who both lost their dogs earlier this year. Unfortunately they jumped the gun a bit and tried to make it work with her in their small apartment. They are building their own house but are realistically a year out from completion and realized that they should probably wait until they can offer a more dog-friendly environment.

We went to the vet on tuesday and got out with a much lighter wallet but a pretty good report. We will have some lab results on friday but are not anticipating any unforeseen issues.

Trying to decide if she want to pose with her floppy lab ears or her upright shepherd ears….Maybe something in the middle

Her she is testing the definition of "Off the carpet!" Do the edges count she wonders.

I said "guard the tools" but I think she just discovered the radiant heat in the shop floors

cute pup!! My wife and I were discussing getting a dog the other day. Definitely will be looking at shelters etc. I've always had good luck with just a mutt/mix.

haha, cute dog, I've always like floppy ears, I really hope she won't have to get a new home again, I always tough getting a dog was like getting a kid, after you got one, you don't come back it's for life. Especially since their life are so short in comparison to ours, they really need a lifetime buddy, they are our best friend s after all.

Good luck with your carpets, as long as she doesn't eat them it shouldn't be too bad? :p

Truly the best love money can buy.
The longer I'm around the more I appreciate the dog.

Great tool to add while you are working in the garage. My rescue will stay in the garage if im out there but he tends to wind up wandering in the neighbors yards. He never goes far and always returns though.

Congratulations on the new pup! I got my furry kid 2 years ago and raised her around race cars and tools.

Danica is her name, and it's not after the lame race car driver. It's after Danica McKellar the actress that played Winnie Cooper in the Wonder Years.

I bought Danica her own tools to play with, and she's never pulled mine out and chewed on them.

Enjoy your furry kid, they're awesome!

Good for you for going the recue route. We rescued Sabbath which is the same lab/sheppard mix. If you can't decide which way you want her ears just go for one of each.

Nice dog OP. The comment about the carpet reminded me of a Golden Retriever we used to have. We trained her so that when she would come in from outside she would have to stay off the carpet until her feet had dried. They had to be quickly checked by one of us before it was okay to walk on the carpet. She obeyed the rule perfectly her whole life and she would even walk over to us and lift her feet for us to check them when they were dry, but after a couple years of blind obedience she realized that as long as her hair wasn't wet from rain she could safely push the boundaries by laying her whole body on the carpet while just keeping her wet feet extended over the linoleum until they were given the green light by one of us.

We let her do it, because it was so hilarious to watch. She even developed her own technique for gently heaving her torso sideways onto the carpet without her feet ever leaving the linoleum. She seemed to derive so much joy from feeling like she was getting one over on us.:lol_hitti

Cute pup Rusty! My gf and I are moving to a new place soon and are about to start watching/visiting the shelters in the area. We eventually boiled our minimum requirements during the house hunt to a fenced yard and a garage (the list was so long in the beginning).

Here's mine! Mutt as well. And to the comment of this should be in free parking, he guards the wife and kids. That's a tool to me!
