Finally picked out a nice set of screwdrivers for my dad. I ended up going with craftsman as the warrenty is good. Went before I had to be at work.

These are what i got:

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00931796000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

Something cheap, but it will work for him.

Now I just need to get his toolbox and things will be set. May go pawn shopping this weekend as Ive seen some cheap at pawn shops.

I have those same ones, honestly they are fine. I intentionally broke one to see how much it could take, and they are stronger than people on here make them out to be.

Tool snobs will tell you to spend $100 + on a six to eight piece snap on set, but those are perfectly fine and have the easiest warranty. Good choice.

I have a lot of Craftsman screwdrivers, some of which have served me for more than 20 years.
I pick up a lot of them at yard sales too, since I can exchange worn out ones for new ones at any time.

I have some of those screwdrivers (+/-, no torx) that came with my HS graduation gift to myself way over 30 years ago. I have replaced a few via warranty but otherwise they have done me well.

Their smaller flat heads aren't what they used to be (my older ones are still holding up fine) but until I was given some Kleins a few years ago, all I ever used were Craftsmans and they served me well for years. I picked up some of their professional stubby screwdrivers on clearance a month or so ago and they are actually VERY nice.

I was going to pick up a set because I have a single Phillips head craftsman, and the handle feels so nice, when I got it, I unscrewed and screwed in screws all over my house because it felt so nice on my hand.

The warranty can't be easier, and I also love HF's single screwdrivers (sold together as 8 pc professional set) they feel better to me, although I can't speak to the quality. If it ever breaks you could buy a new one for .99 rather than wait for a manager to come swap it out.

But don't let the price speak for it's quality, they're highly reccomenndwd by non snapon koolaid drinkers.

I have those HF pro screwdrivers as well. The green/gray, orange/gray handled ones. Really nice for the money and have a comfortable grip. Use a phillips one everyday at work with no issues for almost a year.

I really think they're fantastic, I really have no idea how they're so good for so cheap. There was recenty a .99 coupon for the Phillips, but wasn't worth my time since they're $1.69 on sale.

I even bought a de/magnetizer to use with them since they come in various lengths/sizes.

And I have a full set of Snap-on hard handles too.

That's a lot of screwdrivers for little money. I've used these in the past and they're just fine. (decent quality, great value and easy to replace individually)

If I had to do it over again I'd probably go this route over the boutique brands like PB Swiss. (I'm not too happy with PB Swiss's Phillips fitment).

I've got a bunch of different screwdrivers I've collected over the years. I've never really gotten too hung up over the quality of any of them. If the tip gets trashed, I stop using it. To be honest, my most used screwdrivers are some "Benchtop" screwdrivers I bought at K-Mart 10+ years ago. They are Snap-On clones, and have very comfortable handles. They've held up very well. They're still my go-to screwdrivers. I've got some older USA-made Stanleys that I really like, as well as some Craftsmans I bought a year or two ago, and I like those quite a lot too.

Have you ever used those tool snob screwdrivers? First time you round off a fastner with a cheap Screwdriver and and cost your self alot of time or money you will rethink that comment.

Less than a buck a piece? They sell for $2-$3 each at the flea market!

I'd say SCORE!

I have an SO screwdriver set and Cman set. And honestly, I use the Cman set more than the SO. Only time I ever really use any of my SO screwdrivers is when I have to remove a lower dash panel, and that's not too often.

They looked good to me. Plus my dad doesnt do much to break a screwdriver. So they will last for him :)

I'm not sure what the older ones looked like, but I seemed to like this set the most when I was looking at them.

my favorite screw drivers! they work and their cheap... i find it hard to believe that many ppl on this forum bash these screw drivers when that is all u used to see in old timers boxes... i dont see the point of having "gay", comfort grip, bright colored screw drivers

LOL.

They haven't really changed anyhthing on them in decades.

I have a hand down set that is over 20 years old with C and D build years with the same WF stamps and they are fine.

I just had to return a 15 year old 5/16" flat blade last week due to some blade warpare on a frozen screw I should ahve hit with heat first, but the replacement was 99% of what I took in. Same stinky smell and the blue portion of the handle is now translucent blue vs. solid blue like the old units.

All still USA stamped.
