Driveway done! All I need to do is remove the 'new window' sticker and she'll be complete...however we all know they are never really complete

Great build man! I like that you pulled off the height and 9' tall doors and everything looks correct proportionally. Well done.:rocker:

Thanks for showing your garage build. It has lots of good information and the pics were well done.
I like your bench. Solid core door on the top and your done. IMHO.
Cheers,
Kip

Thanks - I'm very happy with how the proportions turned out. If I had to change anything I might redo the window above the gararge door. It's high like it is due to the floor of the loft.

Awesome build and I love the w124! We just moved back to Durham in April.

Much appreciated! Let me know if you ever want to swing by and chat garages / cars!

Great idea on the bench top! I'm torn b/w the solid core door or butcher block.

Heya, S4

We just bought a house in N. Durham by the Eno River, great location but will need to build a garage. I'm hoping to finalize a plan and budget this spring. Throwing around a lot of options as far as acting as my own GC vs going with a turn-key contractor like Carolina Custom Builders. I think I'll need quite a bit of concrete to make up for the slope of the yard and that is going to eat up some cash.

Did you go off a readily available set of plans or did you create them yourself?

Mav: I pretty much did everything from scratch...but leveraged a lot of the ideas/designs here. Specifically Xanders build but then changed things based on my needs/wants.

I talked to CCB and they were nice, but their vibe was run of the mill and I wanted to change things here and there. Ultimately had my uncle do it for me (he's a GC here in Durham). There's honestly not a lot I would change if doing it again...nothing major for sure.

PM me if you want to swing by and see the garage to stoke ideas of your own.

Awesome! That would be great, your garage is really similar to what I'd like to build.

Awesome! Thanks!

One more quick question. Will it allow you to turn off the oscillating feature if you want direct air flow?

Yes, you can turn off the oscillating feature...but you have to be able to reach the knob (push / pull function). Mine has been oscillating since i installed it. Speeds are easily changed with a pull string (similar to ceiling fans).

I think they sell a less expensive model that is the same minus the oscillating feature.

That's exactly what I needed to know. I love the oscillating feature, but there would be times that I would want direct air flow. Thanks again!

This garage is fantastic. I am designing a detached garage for our new home and decided on 24x32. This is the absolute best one I have seen so far. Great job.

Thanks guys! I really enjoy the space, only thing I'd like better is more but I've been able to do a lot with it.

Even built a paint booth in it for my current project.

NICE!!

I like the make-shift paint booth. I may have to copy that in the future. I miss not having a paint shop available for my projects. I have a couple of small touch-up paint projects to complete in the spring, my son's new WJ project has a ding and a rust spot that we need to repair and his 2002 D-Max we have to reclear the roof on. For anything larger I have been trying to think of a way to built a temporary paint booth as I think I have plenty of room in the one bay to temporarily close off one small section. I may have to do something like this when that time comes that I need to paint something larger.

Great idea and work.

On a side note, I would love to see some more pictures of that FJ project, that this is looking just as sweet.

Here is a link to the 40 series build. The pics for the first couple pages are broken but there are tons still there.

Loved the Merc, but ended up selling it back to the previous owner (after dumping money into it)...he's a local friend. It's a 2003 500E lowered on bilstein springs. Interior is mint with redone Hammer front seats, black headliner, refreshed wood grain trim, etc. etc. Less than 100k miles. Current owner decided to dump more money in it and installed an original AMG 6.0 in it...craziness for sure.

Garage door was installed last night and ceiling lighting too! The pictures don't do the brightness justice...it's like daylight!!

Lights look awesome. I can’t find on here what kind they are. Not sure If you still monitor this website but Id you do. What kind of lights are these? The two where the attic trusses are look linkable. How have they held up? Thanks! Ryan
