Brown truck delivered my new heater today. Its 60k btu infrared for my garage. I have a large 3 gar, the literature said a 40k would do but I had my doubts. I will try to get it put up later this week and give a review.
I don't think a 60K BTU heater is too big for that space, especially if it gets really cold and there isn't a whole lot of insulation in the walls and ceiling.
Garage is just under 1k s.f. (30 x 32), only two outside walls but one of them has 3 big openings.(doors) Well insulated walls and ceiling with finished GWB. Temps in the winter here can go from single digits to warm. It was 60 here yesterday going to be snowing and cold tomorrow. Brand is Heat Star by Enerco. I got it from Northern Hardware mailorder. It was on sale for $399. with shipping was something like $425. Took about a week and half to get it. I have been wanting heat in the garage for awhile now and finally pulled the plug. My brother had a hot dawg in his garage and it worked great. When I told him I was going to get one he directed me toward infrared. He has a friend that has them in his shop in Canada and said they heated so much better than what he had. The info said that 40k btu would be good for the size but the 60k did not cost that much more. The big issue was the mounting height. Min. for the 60 is 12' which is what I have. I am hoping to get it hooked up within the next week. I will let you know how it works out.
