I say it's new as it's in excellant condition. It has original knurling on the non-changable jaws and shows no wear on any of the ways or beam. Nice snug crank and no slop anywhere. Weights in at 65#. Purchased on Ebay from a knowlegable dealer/GJ member for $200 shipped. Will get her mounted on the welding table tomorrow.

Nice vise! Even nicer that you got the copper jaws with it since your going to put it on your welding table. I think I saw that on Ebay, seemed like that guy had his whole collection on there if it's the same one I'm thinking of! You made a wise purchase! Looks like you have a Reed (picture's too small to really tell) on your other bench. Let us know which one of the two you prefer. Btw, I like the tractor - that thing is sweet!

The other vice was my grandads from his farm shop, it's an Athol stationary. It has been broken and repaired, still has some grooves left on the jaws after 75+ years. I don't think I'll be wearing out these newer ones in my lifetime.
I'll just mount this on the front edge of the table so it'll be about the same as pictured. The swivel catch is a pat'd jaw with teeth thats absolute when set. Truley an Americana piece.

Planted my first alfalfa field with that 8N about 50 yrs ago.

Took the vise to my main shop bench for full check-up & clean/lube. Some more detail pics.
