Got myself a fancy SnapOn box

I was going to use the Snap On student excellence program to buy a shiny new box, but I found this one on Craigslist. Cost as much as a new one would if I got it through the program, but it came with the stainless steel top and a cover. It only has a couple scratches and the dude apparently jacked the Snap On logo before I got there. Overall, it's in great condition.

I had two smaller Craftsman boxes and half of these things didn't even fit in them. Now I have room to grow!

Eventually, everything that says "Craftsman" will be given to my dad as I replace them with SnapOn. My last couple Craftsman tools that I recently purchased, broke on the first time use. One of them broke just sitting in the box (Not an exaggeration. The opening and closing of the drawer caused it to literally fall apart).

If you all are wondering, I got it for $2300. Best/cheapest I could find after a couple weeks of searching.

Good looking collection you have there and a good buy on the box! Don't be afraid to work with your craftsman tools! Sure snappy has some nice stuff but you can beat on them for a while till you switch over.

My older Craftsman tools are great. Some of the ratchets, sockets and wrenches have been with me since before I could even drive (started driving in '03). I'm just going to make the most of that 50% off student program while I still have it.

I will note that plier drawer has room for some more channel locks - I only saw one pair!

call snap on, they will send you a new logo free of charge, I ordered two new slides for my tool box and the only thing they asked me for is the model number of my box and my info. Not even for the serial number nor if I was the one who bought it new. Sending them out no charge...Rich

Whatever you do, don't go into debt to the SO guy buying SO tools to replace the Cmans that you already own. Sure, the Cmans may not be equal to the SOs in some instances, but it would be foolish to spend money you may not have at this time just to replace perfectly serviceable Cman tools.

You are doing it right. Saving money by deal hunting, and then slowly upgrading tools.

You'll be better off in the long run than the guys that go into major debt for the brand new huge box and all the new tools right off the bat.

I do wish the SEP allowed you to buy tools for say, a year after you graduate. I don't know about ya'll but I simply don't have much tool money while in school

Slowly but surely, Channel Locks will take over that drawer. Just got a few more this afternoon actually.

If there was ever a positive thing about getting money from the VA for disabilities, it's that I can use it on whatever I want. I like to call it my "monthly tool allowance". Hahaha

From what I'm seeing, I can get tools cheaper through the SEP program, than on eBay or CL. Except when it comes to 3/4" drive.... For that, eBay all the way! I don't buy tools on credit. If I don't have the cash, I don't get the tools. I've learned my lessons on credit and what happens to it when you max out your credit card.
