Got room for a box?

Long story short I saw a snap on box on craigslist, saw it was an hour ago posted but emailed anyway, when I didn't get a call or email back immediately I figured it was gone. Guy called me 3 hrs later saying he had 16 emails, and I was the 8th one but the first one that left a number to call. So I went over there and picked it up since I figured there was demand on it. Not sure if there was or he was faking the demand. Now it comes with a rock maple top with half of it covered with a steel plate and a small Wilton vise on it. Now I looked all over for a snap on sticker, but couldn't find it. He has the back plastered with stickers but I guess the model serial number sticker was removed. He said it was a kra 4017. Is there any way to verify this, the logo obviously says snap on but how to know if its real, the key however does say snap on flank drive on it so that gives some reassurance. Oh, he was selling it cheap because he got a good deal on it and wanted to pass it forward. He also bought a bigger box which is why I didn't think this was stolen as I saw the new big box in his garage. I paid $300 for this with the top and vise included. The bottom drawer also slides all the way out and some of the slides don't slide we'll. can I just spray wd40 on it or is there some better way to fix them. What do I do about the bottom drawer sliding all the way out of the box. Are the slides still under warranty if I'm not the original owner and it doesn't have the snap on factory sticker. Are there any other hidden places to look for the sticker other than the sides of the drawers and the back?

Thanks, just feeling like I may have gotten a bad deal now or that it wasn't as good as I thought.

 Looks like a legit KRA4107

It should be stamped on the back of the box Year Model and COO. You might have to approach at a odd angle to see it, but it should be stamped.

As for the slides you can try to warranty them. I'm not sure if those slides are 2 piece or not. :dunno:

$300 is definitely a deal. From the picture I have no doubt that it is a Snapon box. The slides can be cleaned and lubed to loosen them up. I would start with wd40 and see if you can get some dirt or grime out of them. As for the slides that are coming apart you can order replacement through Snapon.

That new of a box will not have an ID stamp, rather a decal on the back. If it is missing, there is normally one under the bottom drawer. No real need to find it thou, they stamped dated them and we know it is a 4107. It has the 6" casters so it is 2000 or newer.

You guys knowing these model numbers and all off the top of your head amazes me. Thanks I think I will check the bottom. But it definitely being a snap on makes me feel better. Now just trying to find a space for it in my garage. Thanks for all the help!

I definitely thought it would be a lot better built though for some reason. I get that this is the entry level kinda box, but my blue homak in the back I feel has better drawers and slides. I do like the full length drawers tho so I'm not wasting space at the ends. No they aren't double slides on the bottom if that's what you meant by two piece.

Get some weight in the drawer, they fell a lot better then. The slides are rated 90 lbs, but they will easily carry more. I had that box with a top and locker as my first good box. I finally traded out of it when I physically could not fit another tool in it. It handled the weight fine. Those look to be the older casters with a total load rating of 2800 lbs.
