One of my favorite hardware stores is doing some remodeling. I noticed that they had new hardware bins so I asked if they were getting rid of any of the old ones. "Take all you want" I was told. Now if I can just find some space in the shop…..

The ones he has look to be Midwest Fastener, which are plastic. I have several of those, and one Hillman cabinet which is metal.

Those bins aren't Midwest bins. M/F used cases with rectangle feet once they changed from metal to plastic. (I have both) In addition, the dividers between the bin levels are masonite (not plastic), and M/F printed their logo on the side of all their cases. I once had to replace a 30' wall of those bins, I know them well.

( sorry, I feel a bit odd arguing over the authenticity of hardware bins on a forum dedicated to arguing over the finer details of tools. OCD ) :lol_hitti

OBTW - nice grab on the bins. Like Jeff, I hope you grabbed enough cabinets to house them all.

The Hillman bins are plastic which is a good thing since the pallet was out in the rain. I only got 5 metal frames which is enough to hold 30 bins. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the other 250 bins:lol:

There is another pallet or two of these available if anybody else local wants me to hook them up. They also have a ton of Hillman frames for the lidded plastic drawers but they don't have any of the actual drawers:sad:

That is an amazing you **** acquisition and you worked for it because you asked. Make some simple wood frames with shelves that fit them and sell them. Or just sell the extra and the dividers on eBay.

I agree go back and get them all and sell what you don't need on CL. I would love to have a couple of hundred of those. I use the cardboard equivalent in my parts room and tool store but free plastic would be so much better

Great save!!

Where in Pacific NorthWest are you? Go get them all, look at what they sell for on evil bay, If you are close to the Yakima area I have a few of the plastic boxes extra, I am sure we could work out a trade for another case.....Richie

What's the measurement on those bins? Maybe you could sell some to members here for cost of shipping plus some added $$ for time. I wonder if they would fit in a flat rate box through USPS.

Portland? Hmm. I might have to visit Portland soon. It's only a 2.5 hour drive or so. I really wish my local hardware stores would sell the old organizers when they change them out.
