Three observations: Why is the one guy riding along inside the shed? Wonder why they did not have a more level spot to put it? And I bet they all had a great lunch afterwards.

We had an Amish group build my shop building, great guys BTW. While talking to them they told of several trips they had taken to build or rebuild a barn or house due to damage or fire. Everybody chips in and adds value, said even though some were elderly that couldn't do the ladders and higher stuff they would prep all the boards, measure, mark, start nails etc. Nobody went hungry. The moral he was telling ( and he repeated this several times) was "Many hands make little work".

"Many feet and shoulders make little work", I chuckle how the video looks so much like a building moved by a giant centipede. If the shed on the video weighs say, 10,000 lb, consider 50lbs carried per man means 200 men should be able to do it. I count 24 men across the front of the shed, so the width must be about 50'. Length looks about 1.5 times the width, so about 75' long. So guess about 50 men per side. So just around the perimeter means about 150 men.

In regular society you can’t get three people to agree where to go to lunch.

Imagine trying to get 200 people to agree to do this work, all show up on time and all pull their share….. likely for free! Ain’t happening.

I grew up in the mid west where this used to be common. Some think I'm a little strange when I complain about today's lack of community.........:dunno:

Like a barn raising in a day, moving a shed must be an Amish thing. Perhaps their society is better tuned to these activities. Yet, I bet there is some arguing between Yoder and Jacob about who leads the team.

It's obvious to me, this ain't their first rodeo! They are used to, and committed to, community involvement in building projects (actually, not just building, but planting, harvest, cattle, etc.). I'm sure the elders are the ramrods of the deal, and they know who can do what, so they assign the responsibilities. There were probably more than one guy inside, relaying orders/directions. Very impressive!!
PS: DON'T volunteer to arm wrestle any of these guys!!

I thought this video was familiar. It was posted in May 2020. I think OP is pulling our leg. Pretty impressive on the movers though.

Middle of Ohio here so this kind of thing is "somewhat common". Quite a few crews around here that go around and build barns and homes in a matter of days. Most use an old tractor to haul the trailers and tools/materials. I am due for a wooden shed replacement soon. Will be the first folks I talk to.

Yeah, my bad. I was searching the internet for Amish in the Metaverse and found nothing, go figure. Found the shed moving video on youtube and thought it was original.

I'm betting he's the guy calling out orders. Up on the beam so he can see the spotters out the door, inside the shed so the guys at the back can hear him.

We live in a society that fetishizes rugged individuality so this kind of community cooperation seems strange and foreign. It didn't used to, though.

Always wondered what would happen if one guy sneezed and tripped! :)
I was wondering how many of them are only acting like they're holding their weight.

As far as repost I've never seen it before and thought it was interesting.

I used to build up a rather large assembly used on a airplane wing. When it was time to remove it from the Assy jig the whole crew would give a hand lifting it out and walking it a short distance to another jig. I could tell half the guys were barely holding on to it. Thankfully some put in the effort.

probably none. The Amish in our area are known for good hard work.
My nephew hired a younger Amish guy to build him some large barn doors. He took measurements and then disappeared for two weeks. My nephew though he had been ghosted. Then he shows up with the doors and installs them. Charges him half what he got in quotes from a local shop just to build. Doors look like they will outlast the barn and fit perfectly.
