Got up this morning, had breakfast, and took a short 1 hr. trip. 8th and Central in Kansas City Mo, yep Epstein Tool wondered around and found the cresent wrenches I was after, but couldn't just leave with that. I love going there,an old time hardware store with mostly tools, tools and more tools. Their cresent wrenches are Western Forge with their name on one side and their web address on the other and a very neat story behind that. A story for another time. If you ever get in the area it is worth a visit. Just could not resist rubbing it in a little

I'm two hours away and have never heard of it. Looks like there's a road trip in my near future.

fwiw; my nephews went to high school in Lansing in the 80's when my brother was stationed at Leavenworth. I'm pretty sure that whatever I knew or remember about Lansing has changed in the last 35 years. Where we drove on State Street when we would go see them went right through the middle of where the racetrack at Kansas Speedway is now.

Thanx for the tip on Epstein Tool.

It's been more than a year, maybe a couple and the building is old, but the smell is refreshing to me. Just like an old hardware store should be. Yes the area around the Speedway has drastically changed the area, lots of new businesses and entainement in that area. It was the largest dirt project in the state's history. The old Lakeside Speedway was Dozed to have a Dog Racing facility but it is now closed. Lots og changes in Lansing, we have grown to about 15 to 18,000 people, not the quiet town it was. Come back for a visit.

Ah ****.... Thanks for spending my money. I've ordered from Harry Epstein in the past but I've never been to their retail location. I've seen posts of their amazing inventory new and old. Now that you brought it up and gave an address I realize I've got a long overnight stay at the Crown Plaza downtown next month (I'm a pilot) and Harry Epstein is only a 10-15 minute walk from there. I think I'll have to pay them a visit.

Some day I'd like to find my way there. I'll have to have $10k in cash on me otherwise I'd hang myself when the credit card bill shows up.

HA! go ahead, rub it in. Because I know the rest of the story. While you might be close to Harry's, you still have to live in Ks or Mo.! I left Mo, I know what it's like out there.

Tell me you haven't dealt with relentless snow and ice this year. Tell me you don't deal with 110º+ heat in the summer. Tell me that in the fall the VAST majority of trees don't have one color...Brown. Tell me during the summer that the bugs don't get so big and so loud that you hear them inside your house with the doors closed and the tv on. oh, and one word: Chiggers.

You can have Harry's!

The rest of the story on the Cresent Wrenches. Epstein Tool got a Gov Contract for tool kits for generators. They ordered the Cresent wrenches from Western Forge with EPSTEIN cast on one side and wwwharryepstein.com on the other side. Then deducted them for advertising. That the story I got form them.
