Hey guys. I was at a local industrial supply shop this past weekend and got to see tools from SK, Proto, and Wright live and in person. Biggest selection I have seen, this shop had a nice selection of ratchets, sockets, wrenches, and some other "hard line" items.
I stopped at the store mostly to compare the difference in quality between the three brands and decide on if the price and any future warranty claims makes purchasing one of these brands a better option than Craftsman.
I will admit, the sockets from these brands are very nice. The finish quality especially on the sockets and similar drive tools both inside and out seems a notch above the Craftsman stuff. The chrome on these brands is bright, almost "white" in a way, and the engravings are very crisp and legible. If I had to choose one brand, it would be a hard call to make.
Do their higher prices constitute passing over Craftsman stuff that can be had at a much more budget/economy friendly price? I don't know. I find myself struggling to make that decision right now. I will say that the Proto and SK lines seems more complete than Wright, which may help influence a decision if you were to stick to mostly one brand.
