So joined to document and inspire me to change the way I do things. Have a space to use, that has become a dumping ground. I also care for my wife who survived a serious aneurysm rupture on her brain in 1999. I go here for my sanity. I have not said no to taking on others projects and have grown tired of not being able to find anything. One tracking, tripping etc. The images that follow show it at its worse as I moved things out of the back room, have not cleaned the other area after a shortblock rebuild and just starting stacking isht(sp) everywhere to organize the assembly room/sanctuary.

The assembly room/sanctuary change begins:

The plan for this room:
2 small wall cabinets (Sams Club)
8 foot by 24" by 3 foot work table against wall
Charge station shelf
Appropriate electrical outlets
Air outlets
32" Flatscreen(Samsung?)
DVD/Blueray player(Panasonic)
Yamaha Receiver R-8
Klipsch 80 watt Powered Subwoofer
Polk Audio bookshelf speakers
Additional storage
Wallboard for special assembly tools
Seating (undecided)

Requested a quote from Race deck for flooring, awaiting response.

Worked on bench

So bench is getting there. Needs to be sealed and some color added. Need to get a backsplash, get some metal, get some pegboard for the wall, get Racedeck for the floor, electrical outlets, air outlets, more lighting, one more cabinet, stereo install, couple chairs and off I go.

That blue really looks great on the walls and I really like the blue on top with the white lower portion. Opposite of most of the garages you see on here (lower portion darker or colored and top white) but it really works. Great job on that bench as well. Where did you get the wheels? I am looking for something similar for the new bench I am working on.

Thanks, I'm liking the reversed paint as well. We will see how it works out. I think for my old eyes once **** gets in that room it will make things near the floor easier to find. Time will tell. Once I get the bench painted I'll toss down the RaceDeck floor samples and take a picture to see how that looks.

As far as the wheels, they are Home Depot specials(lol), 4" casters. I miscalculated on measurements so the bench is about 3" taller than intended, but I can live with it.

RaceDeck samples on floor:

Most likely will order blue and gray or red in RaceDeck shown on right.

Painted bench awaiting backsplash and steel deck:

Next decision is whether to mount cabinets over workbench or shorter workbench that will be built to the right of this bench. Decisions, decisions. Should have had a real plan versus renovating this room on the "fly". <bg>

I like the idea of going with a blue/grey combo, but I will caution you that the FreeFlow tile design don't stand up well to substantial abuse such as using a floor jack, jack stands and other heavy uses. I learned the hard way. I do love their appearance and function in terms of keep the dust down, but they aren't suited to garages where major projects are going on. But, you could use a combination of different tile styles since they are all compatible.

Best of luck with your project. I think you are going to have a really nice place to escape to when you need it.

Thanks, you must have missed my comment under the image post. Not going with the FF design. It was a sample I received to evaluate and help with my decision. Going with the tile on the right in the image. Diamond style tiles.

Sorry, I read that incorrectly. I think a blue/grey combo in the diamond will look really smart with your paint scheme.

Well the refacing is 90% done, new garage doors installed, so now I need to get a new side entry door and frame. Looks much better from a curb point of view. Just waiting on the city to finish resurfacing the road before taking another photo.

Thanks to Pops and youngest brother for making it happen, wish Mom were still alive to see it as that is all she talked about.

Getting excited, started picking up and cleaning before I drag my brothers Malibu back in. Someone stole a fender cover that I forgot to remove. Oh well. But getting excited about plans for inside. Pictures to come later.

Thoughts on what should do with all the service manuals, toss or try to make available on EBay,Craiglist or otherwise?

WOW, been while. Reorganization is still in process.I had big plans, but life got in the way. Bought a new toolbox from Homak in February and am now re-inspired to cleanup and paint. Meanwhile swapping LS3 and 4L65E into a friends 1982 Corvette.

I still haven't gotten the garage the way I want it. Pops passed on in 2016 and thought I was going to get it done. But I took on a project in 2017 that still has me *******. Swapping a LS3 into a 1982 Corvette.

Someday the shop will be clean and organized just in time to start renting to someone else or start storage rental.
