At some point, I'll start a thread for my workshop build but for now I'll content myself with posting some random small projects. Hopefully this will help keep me motivated and encourage me to document.

I have this cool General Fireproofing desk with a fold away typewriter shelf. I got a new dual monitor arm but the clamp that came with the arm wouldn't work with the thick but shallow lip at the back of the desk. As per usual I didn't take enough pictures but a two bend part from sendcutsend and a small flat part to keep the screws from marring the desk. I welded in weld nuts and the studs to mount the monitor arm. Paint is Rustoleum Spray 7524 Safety Blue (for my reference).

edit: I'm having trouble adding more than two images. I'll be back when I figure that out.

I post from an ipad. I hit the attach files button, then select photo library from a small pop up window, then click on pic, then hit an add button. Once it appears on GJ, I can leave it as a thumbnail or select insert on the pic to enlarge it inline in the post. Each device type likely varies in the process.

Thanks. I think it was a problem with my files rather than the forum. I opened them in irfanview and saved them again and that seems to work.

I need to get a second monitor or a matched pair. Next desk project is to mount on casters. I think the desk ways a couple hundred pounds. I also want to figure out something cool to do with the flip up type writer shelf.

Another quick sendcutsend project. I promise I'm not a shill for them. Mounting plate for a cantilevered umbrella to our Trex deck. I got a relatively cheap umbrella and it gets pretty windy on our deck so I wanted a pretty secure mount. Bolting down also allowed the umbrella to tuck back against the wall more than one of those weighted bases. I was also concerned that the umbrella would die immediately so I didn't want to do anything too permanent. All the hardware goes between the deck boards into the brackets underneath. The side brackets through bolt through the joists. This is the first time I've used the PEM studs on a personal project. So far so good.

No they are M8 PEM (or similar) flush studs. They get installed from the other side so I hope they hold. If not I can weld in some studs. I don't know the exact part they use but pull through is something on the order of 30kN. I didn't do any calcs but that seems like a lot.

I'm trying to stay motivated to spend a little more time in the shop. I've been keeping notes and maybe posting here will help too. I've had this grinder for at least 30 years. If anyone has info on the serial number I would appreciate it. Cord was pretty bad. Hopefully it will survive another 30 years!

Looks like you need a cord protector (item #39) and then a cord (item #23).

Thanks. I kept the cord protector and used a generic cord. Good to know the switch is available. I had to cut off the crimp connector to recrimp.
