Fastenal must have their bolts made by some highly paid Chinese workman to charge as much as they do.

But, to be fair, I opened an account with them and my price dropped a bunch.... but I still try to find US made fasteners... a tough job to be sure.

That's why Lake Erie is a pretty good source. At least they are US made rather than imports. It does cut into profits, though, for the supplier when they don't buy cheap Chinese bolts.

Hell, even with an account, Fastenal still isn't cheap.

There's a local place called MacDonald Industrial Supply (http://www.macdonaldindustrial.com) that consistently outperforms Fastenal, on price, inventory and customer service.

Fastenal seems to hire their employees from the same pool that Burger King does - every single time I've gone into one, I've had to know EXACTLY what I wanted - bringing in a sample fastener just didn't cut it. Even when I've had the exact specs, they still end up trying to sell me the wrong thing.
