Grade above slab, ramp down into garage

I’m trying to figure out what to do with an old building I have. I’m planning to repurpose it and use it for a fair weather shop and dry storage. The issue I have is the the grade on the side where I could install a garage door is about a foot higher than the shop slab and has a decent concrete apron poured around it. So I’m thinking my options are to either bust up the concrete apron and bring the grade down on the garage door side or pour an “entrance ramp” from grade where the garage door will be down into the garage. The ramp option would of course require a good water management plan but it would also allow me to use the concrete apron which would be a major plus. Anyone seen something like this before or should I just bite the bullet and tear out the apron and bring the grade down?

In MN, I would not rely on any "water management system"... other than a slope down away from the building.

Line drains, etc will fill with snow, ice, leaves,.... just when you need it most, and then you have water in your building and a mess.

I am in process of building my garage now. The back roll up door is about 2" below grade. Talked to the concrete guy and he said he would do a rough grading behind the garage no charge. Will take him maybe an hour to drag the ground on the high side down to the low side.

I would suggest you talk to a couple concrete contractors about regrading the area and pouring an apron for the new door. Might not cost as much as you think.
