Picked up a few heavy stainless steel prep tables from a restaraunt liquidation. They make for great workbenches and welding tables. One of the best features is being able to write measurements or sketches on the tables with a sharpie, then just wipe it off with brake cleaner. Beats looking around for paper or a scrap piece of wood.
One is a corner table with a backsplash on the right and rear, 30" X 42". also has a rounded front edge. The other just has 90 degree edges and is 24" X 48". These things are big $$$ brand new.

Just need to clean them up and find a home for 'em in the garage.

Looked into getting some midical procedure carts, but that deal fell through.

Any others finding stainless tables/carts for their shops?

I picked up a 7' stainless table with a sink and faucet in it.
I hooked up a small fountain pump and I now have a parts washer/work bench all in one.

Thats a pretty good deal. I see them all the time for $200. I bought a SS sink a while back for $150. It had a drain board and all the fixtures. The guy that had it had dozens of those tables for $200 so I passed.

BTW, You ****!

A shop I worked at in Calgary used a s/s autopsy table as a portable workbench. Worked like a damn, we just never told anyone what it originally was. LOL

I picked up a 4' x 10' piece of 18 gauge stainless sheetmetal a while back, to make my workbench top with. My bench is going to be made into my pallet racking that's going all the way down one wall. I'll have to have it sheared at 9' long , which is the size of one bay of the pallet racking. I'm going to get them to bend a backsplash on it also. I gave $100 for it :)

I covered all my bench tops with stainless.

I don't think I would use a stainless top for a welding table. Better to get a 1/4" or 1/2" plate steel for a good solid welding table top. Stainless is plain too squirrely when it gets heat in it.

You can try it if you like, but my experience is that Stainless steel sheets warp and bow with a minimum of heat. I do like them for worktops as they don't rust and wipe down nicely.

Here is 40' down the side and then 16' across the back:

Nice SS benched - how wide are they? Maybe it's just the photo - they look 12-14" wide. What's with all the boxes - just moving in? Great space!

6t7gto and rjspitz,

where are the pics? You're killing me. I gotta see these. I want'em.

I know, I know. I'm in the process of tear-down/clean/rebuild, will have pics soon, hopefully.

The plan is to turn the smaller table into a fold-up due to limited floor space in the garage. I'll need to weld up a new frame once I get the legs in that were ordered yesterday. The other just needs to be cut and set on my existing bench.

Still waiting for the pics of the SS tables.

95possom, could I get a few more pics of the ****** table (i.e. I'm thinking I'd like to reproduce that)? That's AWESOME.

Given my limited amount of floor space in the garage, I figured I'd use the larger table to clad my workbench that was already built. Had to cut it up to fit, but now I have a work area in the garage that can handle some spilled fluids.

The other table is also undergoing a transformation to a fold-up. Going to use it as a welding table that will fold up and hang on the wall when not in use.

These are actually 20" deep. Remember, there is 40 feet of benches along that side wall.

Yes, I am still moving in. There are several parts cars in those boxes. My old shop had storage in the attic. This one is a pole barn and can not support the weight in the trusses (on 8'-0" centers).

I also have some benches covered with stainless that are 39" deep, and the ones across the back (visible in the picture) are 30" deep.
