Makes me wonder how many of these welders were ordered for the low price. Had to be hundreds. Especially if people were buying 10 with intentions of selling them for a profit.

Does anyone kind of wonder how the price was entered incorrectly in the first place? Were they intended to be put on sale, but not for $395? If so, wonder what the real sale price was supposed to be. If not, wonder how it got so screwed up.

I would speculate $395 off, but that would be less than what Grainger has offered to resell them to us for:lol_hitti

I was assured, and many other were that NONE were sold at that price. I cannot imagine Grainger lying to customers on that large a scale, so blatantly. Therefore, I have to assume that no one got any 180s at $395.

You can't imagine them lying on that big a scale????

Have you been following this thread...

:D

I think they are watching this thread and that's why they started "all of a sudden" telling the truth.

Please go somewhere else to putchase a miller 180. Why buy one from a retailer who plays games with customers? Buy one from someone willing to make a good deal to begin with, not someone who inflates their price then gives a discount(because they are so nice) yeah right!

Ordered mine early Thursday morning..received a call today from Grainger customer service, stating that the welder at $395 was a website error. They offered me 30% off of the retail price. I declined.......

I also received a call this morning from the local storing telling me about the pricing error. No discount offered, but then again I was busy when they called and I was in a hurry to get off the phone.

Got a call from Grainger today, order cancelled, offered 30% off the unit($826.70).

CCard hold was taken off and nothing charged to the card.

+1. I passed. I know its almost 50% more, but if i'm going to spend over $800, I'd get the dual voltage 211.

Bah - I was so excited about finally getting a decent machine :(

They offered me 30% off, I am thinking about calling back the sales gal and asking if I can take 30% off a reasonable sized welder instead. I wasn't really excited about either but a a Millermatic 212 or 252 then I might be more motivated.

That would be neat if they would work with you on that. Let us know.

Finally received my cancellation today via email. Offered 30% off regular prices.
Thinking of driving out to my nearest TSC to pick up a HH187 now that I found one only 118 miles away one way :(

Make sure you call first to make sure they have it in stock. Mine had 2 187's and 1 140. I bought the single 140 and another guy there (same night) bought one of the 187's.

Also, their computers count the floor model as stock (not sure if this is typical for retail). So if they say they have one left, its on display.

Called my 'local' TSC and they have zero HH 187's.

Then called their online phone # asking how I could order one at the current price. The rep took my info and said he would call me back after talking to their buyer.

Just got a message that "The Hobart 187 welder you want has been pulled off our shelves by Hobart due to a manufacturing defect. They will be releasing new ones in August."

WTH?

I guess this isn't going to be the year I get a REAL Mig welder.

That sounds odd, or maybe why they are on sale. Clearing the inventory. Although why would they knowingly sell a product with a defect? Maybe I will be returning mine as well. Unfortunate.

You might just call Hobart to confirm. I have the voicemail from TSC saved as an email as they called me back on my Google Voice line.

If true, Hobart will make it right. I'm just bummed that I can't buy one at the $549 sale price.
FWIW, Grainger sells the HH187 but they say "While stocks last".

Maybe they're just coming out with a new version.

Looked at the new hobart brochure at local TS tonight. Looks like they are replacing the 187 with the 190. Also the 210 works on 110 or 220 like the MM 211, I think that's new as well.

No 190 on hobarts site.

Just so no one is confused, per his previous post in this thread, bluebolt did not receive this unit at the extreme discounted "mistake" price, he opted to take grainger up on their 30% off offer.

Thank you for the clarification. I was about to raise the BS flag, and would have looked stupid.

LOL, sorry man. It's still a good deal on a great welder, and I, for one, would still like to see the pics. I just thought it needed to be clarified before everyone spun this thread back up going nuts thinking someone actually snagged one at the error price.

Well,

My HH187 from TSC was the display model and I got 10% off the $549 price (only after going to the 2nd store to get it).

I made some welds with it last night - finally. It took forever for me to get the right circuit breakers for my box.

I'ts all so much faster then I remember stick welding - I have trouble keeping a line - but the meandering beads look great. Pool management is out the window with MIG - I just keep the wire on the front end of the pool and "hang on".

I need to find some local cheap tube stock and make the obligatory welding cart for my first project. It will be good practice.

I have not spotted an MFG defect in my HH187 yet. I never installed the included flux wire. I got an 11lb spool of E70S6 in .030 and reversed the polarity to run gas first thing.

I DO dislike the ground clamp on the HH187. I had a hard time making contact - a combination of weak spring and little surface area made me decide to order a replacement.

No problem, I never even thought about people thinking I had gotten one at the "error" price until they started posting up. Here's a pic, yeah thats my kitchen, put the cart together there because I wanted to be in the A/C. Wonder why I am not married LOL?.

Well, that looks like evidence that one was sold at the low price. I'm not any more (or less) disappointed over it.

I wonder if the he's a genius who did the following?:
1. Put it in is cart at the low price (order sheet) but didn't check out back then.
2. Waiting until the "fervor" died and down they had the 180 with gear re-listed under that PN.
3. Checked out with expedited shipping with that old price still on his order sheet.

I'm kind of disappointed that I was stuck in one of the busiest fuel stations in ND and not in front of a computer when they called because I would of tried for a Millermatic 212 with 30% which is more along the lines of what I actually wanted. I doubt they would of done it but its worth a shot.

Why would anyone pay Grainger's regular prices? They so completely un-competitive.

I'm now looking at getting a MM 211 off Ebay.
