I know nobody here knew him but me, but I take great delight in getting out his tools and playing with them once in awhile. One of these days I'll clean them all and store them properly. Maybe. After all, he left them this way.

Dark fantastic collection you got there...:rocker:

For my ocd and a big favor to me could you at least take an old rag and put a little oil on it an give the tool a good coat...you know make them last for the next generation to enjoy, (along those lines).

I will clean, oil and organize them before they get put away again. Seriously, pictures of the grime is enough!

You have some real gems in there. I like the indestro box end wrenches as well as the snap-on and some original mac too! A real treasure there for you! Thanks for posting.

Your gramps had great taste in tools.
As a kid I would wander into the basement and rummage through my grandpas and my uncles tools.
Those adventures probably influenced my collecting habit years later.
I wouldn't bother cleaning your grandpas tools unless they were rusting.

So this morning I went out to try to make myself happy with the way Grampaws stuff was being stored, and I succeeded. This SK box is INFINITELY nicer than the rotten old blow molded one from the 80s, I think.

I just went at a similar metal box with a nylon brush and a bar of LAVA soap.
Scrubbed the soap, then the box.
Added a sprinkle of Boraxo after the first rinse and did it again.

I am liking using hand soap to clean such things.
I don't mind getting a little on me.
Works quite well actually.

I like the organization.
Those are tools I would enjoy reaching for.
Thanks for sharing.

Haha. Thanks. I put the points there for reference to size, never thinking how obsolete they've become!

Dark- That's a nice assortment of tools that were left to you. Given reasonable care, they will still be around and serviceable when your grand kids are posting pictures of them
