Be sure to get as much of the story behind them as possible and write it down!

With Grandma 98 years old they could also be something borrowed from a neighbor last week. ;)

They all came in a wooden toolbox. It also has some more modern tools in it. Other than the vice, I don't have other tools.

Grandma's memory is not too good these days.

Just going by the op opening statement. But they are some pretty old tools. I would not be surprise they were pre WWI

Interested in seeing a close up of the screwdriver as well. Very cool having them in picture boxes, makes me think they should go into a museum. I wonder if there are hand tool museums.. I'll look that up.

Grandma is 98 if the tools are her dad's it can quite easily be 100+ year old.

Grandmas 98 now, IF her father bought those tools before she was born, MAYBE over 100, but I think it highly unlikely... Her dad had a whole lifetime to collect those tools before passing them on. People back then had kids young, and were for the most part dirt poor. Then they had to go through the depression, and many lost everything.

Moreover, Every tool there with the possible exception of the wrench are still made today somewhere. Even the wrench was still being made and popularly sold at least until the 40's.

Over 50-60 years old? I'll buy it. Over 100? I strongly doubt it. I have a number of tools over 100 years old. Its not that easy to find pre 1912 tools, particularly in the condition those appear to be in...

Don't get me wrong It's a nice little collection of some family tools, and as such have good value to the family, but I'm not deluded by Grandma's age as to the tools age.

If those had belonged to Grandma's Grandpa, then maybe...

Very interesting. I have, from my grandfather, the same pipe wrench, screwdriver, drill and vise. Must have been common items to have around in the early 20th century. Mine are in very poor condition unlike yours. I did repaint the vise last year sometime. Its nice to have them still around and they look very nice in the shadow boxes.
