I know another toolbox restoration thread. This is my first restoration so try to be kind :lol_hitti . So I sanded the entire thing down with 60 grit, wiped it down. Did two spray can of satin black primer then waited 48 hrs. This is the current photo of the first "brush-on" application of Safety Red Rustoleum. I'll let this cure until next weekend, sand it with 420 grit and then HVLP it with my Black Friday air compressor :) I'm actually kind of digging the black top might keep it that way. Opinions?

I will be adding new casters shortly as well.

I have that roller also: it is my welding bench base with a 1/2" steep plate top, and a side cabinet that has my Lincoln Mig welder on top, and a fold up tray/top extender, braced up permanently, and holds a small vise (the reason for the brace) and a small 5" mini grinder.

I also have the 5 drawer "premium" roller (Restored) and the three drawer top (un-restored as yet), that all show in the '54 catalog, so I have all the "drawer units" from that year.

Thanks everyone, it wasn't in terrible condition, but it is something I wanted to keep in the family. After I get done with this one I will be doing my Dad's hand me down OTC box, which is even more difficult to find information on. Thanks AGAIN, if it weren't for your guys resto's I wouldn't of taken this on myself.

Any idea how to get the big "space" cover off?
Yes, with the drawers removed look inside & you will see a tab on either side that operates the drawer lock mechanism. Slide the cover in so that it passes over the top of those tab thingies. Then it will come out of the opening where the drawers go.

Ok so I'm on need of some serious help. I've put 2 of the drawers back in were they are supposed to go, and now they are stuck... Any ideas as to why and how to get them unstuck? Thanks!

Ok false alarm I feel like a complete idiot... The bottom slide cover has to be in the up position for the drawers to work... Major doh! On my part.
