Hello

Little backstory. Out of all my grandfathers grandkids, im the only one who cared to turn a wrench. So, being the great man he is, he decided to give me some of his old tools. He showed me how to use them, and I will think of him every time I do.

He gave me these. They were baffling, Ive never seen tools like them.

Ideal Ind. Inc. Made in USA wire strippers, “Stripmasters”

Wire strippers can be a real time saver. There were many versions of that tool made by different manufacturers. I had some that worked really well. Lost them and had to buy a modern set. Didn't work as smoothly as the old pair.

Nice. I've got a newer version of the Ideal Stripmasters, also handed down to me. Great for dealing with wires with hardened casings.

I've got that actual set and using them to rewire a '53 f-100 truck.. they are sweet, one hand operation and will strip fro #10-#16 without a second look. I took my old cheap strippers out behind the garage and threw them across the fence. In a hundred years someone will find them, decide they are still junk and throw them across the next fence.

I've worn out many pair of those wire strippers. Those are the best I've found.

The punch(es) are also great. I wish I had more.

I have many of my grandpas tools and still use them frequently.

Enjoy,

Jim

Those strippers are great--I used them in a production environment on a soldering line making cassette tape duplicators and they were invaluable!

I think I just dated myself...

They still make those wire strippers. It does look like he may have added the block with the allen screw.
I have two sets of those strippers and there not cheap ($32) but i wont buy anything else. There great for tight spaces, single hand stripping or just making fast work of stripping a 8 wire bundle.

He worked on lathes and mills for years and years, so yes he made and added that bit, as a stop for the wires.
