Looking at the latest Gray sales flyer, I noticed their 26 piece 3/8" Drive Metric Ratchet & Socket Set is on sale for $219.95.

I've been thinking of replacing my Mastercraft / Husky (USA) / Princess Auto metric sockets with something better. Lord knows I don't need another ratchet, extensions or u-joint, but is this a good buy or would I do better looking for just the sockets seperately (maybe a Proto or SK set off E-bay)?

Or do the Gray "Socket only" sets ever go on sale?

Yes, Gray do place the sockets on sale by themselves. The last flyer had the chrome deep sockets (3/8" to 1") on sale for $66. A few flyers back, the shallow metric sockets were $62. The new style ratchet can be had for $36.

Are the Gray tools that good (compared to Craftsman, SKl, Kobalt, etc) that a 26 piece 3/8" set sells for $219.95 ?? Just curious since I have never seen a Gray tool other than pictures ..

Looks like it will pay to wait in my case! ~$130 for the deep and shallow sets sounds pretty good to me!

You picked up one of the new sealed head ratchets? How do you like it?

That's the *sale* price . . . . Regularly $386.27

All the Gray tools I have are older than I am. Would be nice to change that :)

They only resemble and are not technically a sealed head ratchet. I love the 40 tooth ratchet it's very smooth and you can't beat the price. I hope they soon come out with a 1/2" drive version.
