Great forum here. I have a question regarding floor finishes. I recently built a custom home, the garage is a oversize 3 car, the garage has a 8in slab with radiant floor heat and 3 drains. I will only use the garage for very light repair. The biggest problem I have are the Michigan Winters and salt. My last home had the U-coat it system in it and I experienced hot tire lift under all 8 tires. (It was a 2 car) So my thought is having a company professionally stain the garage floor, I am hoping with the inconsistancy/marbling of the stain that it will show less dirt. Yesterday I had a company out and we could not find any stain in the gray color. The home is Iron Grey on the exterior and the browns and earth tones just won't work. Is anyone aware of a gray stain or better yet have any pictures of a stained grey concrete floor. Also if anyone has any better recommendations I would appreciate it. Thank You !!

Legacy industrial has acid etching stain, I just put down the English red but I have to wait until it warms up....picture is pretty crappy but hopefully it will pop better on pictures with good lighting and clear coating on it.

Acid stains are organic in nature and don't come in grays. The closest is blue. You could do an acetone dye in gray however. It will not have quite the marbled look as acid though since it is a dye and does not react with the lime in concrete.

What type of topcoat are you planning to apply to the concrete after it is stained or dyed?

Well, not grey but i did use a white penetrating stain-sealer product from Increte. 3 coats, solvent base. Was about $320 US for 5 gallons. Diamabrush grind and vacuum for prep. There is a water base version that would be better for a heated attached garage.

My concern was road salt, oil, brake/trans fluid..this product is very resistant to these. They have a few shades of grey: http://www.increte.com/engineered-s...standard-color-gallery-concrete-stain-sealer/

The marbled, variegated effect is best achieved with acid stain, acetone dye or the newest design product: metallic epoxy.
