here in my town in Alberta, Gray tools are barely available except the odd tool at acklands grainger but you pay an arm and a leg for anything there. I would like to get a few ratchets, wrench sets and other basic hand tools but don't know where to get them.

I would also be interested in other Canadian made tool brands as well I just cant think of many off the top of my head.

So you mean you want NEW Gray Tools for really cheap? That's a challenge!

thetoolstore.ca has some pretty good deals on Gray Tools, not the entire catalog though.

Fuller makes a full line of screwdrivers in Canada under their own name, under the Craftsman name for the Canadian Sears market, and I'm pretty sure they're back to making Canadian Tire's hard plastic handle drivers today.

Eco Diesel makes a poly hammer in Canada ".... a manufacturer of industrial grade polyurethane dead blow hammers..."

Picquic makes bit-changing screwdrivers, but I'm 99% sure only the handle is made here, maybe the shaft as well, but as for the bits - they refused to tell me where the bits were made.

Richard Tools (http://www.arichard.com/ui/s_public/en/home.aspx) still makes a lot of tools in Canada, including their classic red lever bar, newer steel end **** prybars, and scrapers. But sad, as I've seen them sending more and more production to Asia.

Gray is pretty expensive mcheck their online flyer, and it wouldn't hurt to call them to see if their are other distributors in the area.

Yeah check their website for the nearest dealer, I cant get them in my town but I'm going to get them in GP when I go back to school. Their sale prices seem really reasonable for the quality of tools that you get.

Is there hard line still made in Canada? I thought it was all Taiwan now.

from the Wiki page created for Gray Tools:

"Most of Gray's hardline (sockets, ratchets, wrenches) are made in Canada, while most of their pliers are sourced from Germany and USA. The rest of their catalog is filled with products made in Taiwan and elsewhere in Asia."

CANADA:
Combo (reg. and stubby), double open end, double box, flare wrenches, ratchets, chrome non-swivel sockets (not sure about all impacts), chrome extensions and clear yellow hard handle screwdrivers, blue coloured chisels, pin punches etc., blue and/or nickel plated roll, pinch and pry bars, orange handled prybars are all made in Canada.

One of their ratchet lines have a hard plastic screwdriver handle, which the handle is made in the U.S.

OUTSOURCED:
From what I've seen in person and talking with customer service their universal sockets, including regular joints - are made in Taiwan. Ball swivel joints were U.S. made last time I checked. Hammer heads were U.S., but lately are most if not all Taiwan (although handles i.e. wood may be Canada, and if so, are stamped as such). Ratcheting wrenches are Taiwan as far as I remember. Pliers are Germany or USA and usually stamped as such, and adjustables wrenches are still Spain I believe, but not marked as far as I remember.

I am currently serving in the forces as a vehicle technician. A great deal of our hand tools are Gray. For the money they charge and the quality I have noticed. I would buy another brand. I have had great luck with gearwrench products even though they are an offshore brand. Best of luck.

Sorry let me rephrase myself. I am proud to see a tool that some varieties are made in Canada still! But for the average joe they can be pricey. I have a couple ratchets and wrenches and really like them. I just find it hard in my area to buy/warranty.
