Grease gun fittings - multiple sizes?

I mostly work on stuff with sealed bearings and joints, so I am not a grease gun expert. I just got a new Lincoln pistol grip, and instead of pushing grease into the zerks it flows out around them - multiple cars, multiple joints, so I don't think it is a zerk problem. I threw out the broken old gun so I can't compare, but it seems like the coupler on this one is huge and perhaps too big to lock securely on the zerks. Do couplers come in multiple sizes?

The end of your grease gun tip screws in/out and adjusts the grip on the zerk. It might be really tight if you haven’t adjusted it, may need a couple pair of pliers to loosen it the first time.
Oh, that was easy. Thanks!

If your gun adapter is held at an angle, it won't push the grease into the fitting. Depending on equipment age, you can also have zerks that are gummed up and won't take grease until it's highly pressurized. I've had zerks that a grease gun wouldn't provide enough pressure to unplug them. Those we usually just replace due to cost.

Years ago, the shop on a ranger district I worked on had a tool for unclogging Zerks. It was a tube thing, filled with grease. Put it on the Zerk and give it a goodly whack with a BFH. Of course, that was way back when the USFS had District Ranger stations and shops.

I've had excellent luck just heating the Zerk until it smokes, then hitting it with the GG.

Half of the ancient junk I work on has clogged Zerks and the grease oozes out as you descibe.
This solves that problem more often than not; https://www.grainger.com/product/3J...lsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=213694

LockNLube will cure your issues.
