I really like this idea. Must build one soon. I have my grease gun hanging on old nail out in the garage and it puked grease on my skil saw.

Those are some great fab jobs. I bought a holder years ago and never put it up as previously stated the gun leaks. Yesterday i got out to garage and did some cleanup and decided I could put this up. I got inspiration from the Busted Tractors and Rusty Knuckles by Roger Welsch book(great reading if you like to read).

I hadn't thought about the whip. I usually wipe it down before I put the gun up. The cup is removable but stays in the boot snuggly, so I can dump the drippings out from time to time.

I built this one a while ago, all out of black ABS.
It has worked great for me!
The top cap is a loose fit for easy removal & keeps the garage dirt out of it. The bottom cap is quite a bit tighter but still removable so every once in a while I can clean out all the gunge build-up. I drilled the hose hole (bottom left) on an angle so the hose would go in easy & stay securely in place

I did my grease gun that way, I also made one up to store funnels in that way it catches all the drips from funnels. I stack three or four different sizes in it as they will nest inside each other somewhat, trans, oil, antifreeze etc.

Wonderful idea!

I just order my first grease gun because I'm doing the ball joints on my ranger this weekend. I'm not following how exactly you are able to tighten the bolts in the little tube? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just not following exactly how you are able to angle in and fit the bolts in and then put a nut on it and tighten it? Also same applies when putting it on the wall... How exactly are you tightening the bolts since the tube is covering where you would normally come straight at a bolt.. IE: Screwing an anchor in the wall you are coming straight at the screw head..etc.

thanks,
-Nigel

these are all good ideas. i had a similar problem with my tools i use to pack bearings on trailers. i got tired of cleaning them and putting them away everyday. i grabbed a old cooking tray and put a few rags on it. i leave the tools on the tray and cover with rags and put it under my box. now that there easy to get to, i have been doing a lot less bearing packs. go figure.

It's hung on the wall with a lag screw. I have a hole near the top and used a ratchet wrench to drive the lag into the wall.

When I bolted it together, it's been a while, I believe I used a magnetic pick up tool to fed the bolt down the 3/4" pvc into the hole. Then I wedged a large screwdriver between the head and the interior of the pvc.

It's like one of those brain teaser puzzle that you take apart but you get that sense of accomplishment when it's down. Doesn't everybody like a challenge ?:dunno:

Anymore questions, just ask my friend.

Well this is an old post but I just found it in a search. I'm going to make something similar for inside my trailer. I think I might make mine out of exhaust tubing and weld it to an ETrack clip so I can take it out when I'm using the trailer for other things than work. I just ordered an air operated Lincoln gun so I will build it when it arrives. Thought this was worth another bump.

I've got a Lincoln air grease gun and always have a heck of a time 'burping' (priming) it when I change cartridges!

Anybody have any tips?

I made the attached a number of years ago. I too was inspired by the factory made ones, but like Nutts, I like to do it myself. Plus when I build my own, I can customize it to make it suit my needs better.

We have one at work and I always have a hard time bleeding it too. The air one I ordered is what Lincoln calls "Fully Automatic" which is supposed to eliminate the need to bleed it. Sorry I don't have any tips for bleeding that one except bleed it again...and again until it works.

Here's mine I made awhile back. I be posted it in several other threads. Used part of a magnetic paper towel holder and some pvc. Had to spray it to match my box.

Generic grease gun bleeding advice. Place the new tube in, screw the gun back together 1 turn, do not tighten to seal, release the follow plate, begin pumping, if gun does not prime pull out the follow plate rod and twist until it will push the follow plate, now apply pressure to the rod to force grease forward, begin pumping again, the gun should now be primed, if the gun is primed screw the cartridge holder down to seal.

On most grease guns and Lincolns especially if you look at the end of the cartridge holder you will see a notch in the threaded portion, that notch is the air bleed. The air bleed only works if the cartridge holder is not fully seated. On some other grease guns there is a button on the pump head. Happy greasing.

Added to my "To Do" list!!

I hate dealing with the mess, and now that I have 2 manual large, 1 manual small, and 1 air powered the mess is growing :scared:

I'm thinking about doing a grease holder in addition to the gun holder, we usually buy by the case (i think 12) and I always end up forgetting the cabinet/shelf/location and buying more then having tooooooo many when I find them  a lil holder like this + 3x angled /// for holding 24 (3x rows of 8) sounds good!

You can find cases for grease tubes from places like Northern Tool and Grainger. I'm sure they're available other places as well. They can hold a full case of tubes.

AWESOME work there cliftonbros, as always another great idea and of course love the color and box.

Thanks. Those magnetic paper towel holders work good for a lot of things besides just paper towels. Plus for only about $6 for a pair at Menard's it's hard not to use them for things.

I hear that i have also used the towel holder's individually to hang my welding hoods and face shield's (sorry no pic) on the outside of a cabinet next to my fab table. now that i think about it i might grab another pair and put them in the service truck.
