Grease Gun Only Open From End Cap?

I got a core gear grease gun from Home Depot

The grease gun can only be opened from the "End Cap" as shown in the picture above, sometimes called the "bottom". This is my first grease gun that could not be opened from the "top" (the end with the handle etc.). I struggled greatly loading a grease cartridge into this type of style grease gun. I had to overcome the spring, and the spring slanted back and forth making things a pain. I fought with it for about half an hour, until I finally got it back onto the barrel, the end cap went on slightly cockeyed. I pumped and pumped and cannot get any grease out.

Never mind figured it out!

Probably figured out how to unscrew the end that the cartridge must go in from.

Kind of looks like every generic gun I've seen that unscrews from the top:

That cartridge will never go in from the bottom. Maybe a bulk grease only type gun?

So the top of the grease gun does unscrew lol. It didn't look like it at all at first, and I wasn't able to easily turn it. I had to get some pliers and really turn on it hard. It looked like it was all one piece and couldn't see any threads at all. I did manage to end up loading it from the bottom end with great frustration. Then found it opened from the top lol.

How did you get the metal ring of the grease tube inside the grease gun tube?

You should grease the top.
