Grease gun that doesn't ****?

Is there such a thing as a grease gun that doesn't completely ****? Everyone I have ever owned is a pain to load and prime and is a complete mess to use. Gloves are always a must since grease goes all over the place. Oh yeah, and they lead when left to sit in a warm garage. I store mine in a bucket so it doesn't drip on the floor. Oh man do i hate grease guns.

I think you mean that doesn't blow. ;):D The ones at the grease rack at you FLAPS that take the tube directly into the housing should be good. Loading the old ones with the contents of the cartridge is Neanderthal.

I've got an Ingersoll Rand Manual Grease Gun...been a great gun for 6 years now.
Only issue I had in the beginning were the cheap fittings for refilling it...removed them and plugged with normal brass NPT plugs and voila, no more leaks.

My dad always said that if your gun leaks, its not the gun...its the grease. Using a good quality grease should prevent leaks. Think about it...if your grease is breaking up/seperating in the gun..how good will it be when in use?

Using a manual grease gun that was my grandfathers... They just don't make them like they used to... Have tried getting a few cheap ones as a backup but those always end up not working after a couple tubes...

I *did* get the Northern Tool brand $25 pneumatic one, and it has been working good for about a year... fingers crossed. It's a lot easier to use than a manual trying to hold the end on a zerk with one hand, then trying to pump / hold the canister with your other hand.

My friend finally broke down and bought a Lincoln pneumatic and that thing is nice... Full auto grease dispensing! The cup inside is a lot more heavy duty than your average ones. Likewise I've seen a few guys have the battery powered lincoln's for their heavy-equipment (backhoes, excavators, etc...)

I use a Lincoln on the dump truck with an extra long hose about 24-30" for getting to some tight fittings. In the garage I have one that is really old and heavy as can be, super stiff spring. I have no idea what brand but it was hear when I bought the house. I came out with some real neat stuff from the old guy who lived here, he was 90.

Grease leaked all over the place when I used the Mobil 1 synthetic grease in my lincoln grease gun. I ordered a tube of some Amsoil synthetic grease and have not had an issue.

The spring pressure squeezes the oil out of the grease. When you are not using it, unscrew the cylinder a turn or two, and pull the rod back and lock it back, takes the spring pressure off of it.

When you go to use it, leave the cylinder loose, or loosen it some more, and release the rod. You will hear the air hiss out thru the threads. Pump it till it pumps grease, and tighten up the cylinder. I keep mine in an old kitty litter tub to catch the dripping. I use Amsoil Moly grease, but it drips also.

Both my grease guns were passed down from my Father. Not sure the brand, they are probably 40-50 years old. And I keep an old sock over the injection ends to catch any seepage, which is little to none.

I got mine when I worked at GE. When I left, I asked my foreman about the stuff that I got from the stock room, he said "they're yours, the company doesn't want them back"

I use these at least once a week.... I havent had any problem with leakage. I have broken a few when dropped over 20 ft though! Funny my supervisor always wants to try and replace it with a cheap one! LOL!

I was looking at some grease guns at Rural King yesterday, specifically Alemite (marked down to $33) and Lincoln ($37). Looking closely the Alemite was made in China and the Lincoln in India. :(

I am all for the Alemite. Used to sell them when I was a counterman, the only time someone would have to buy a new one was when they got ran over by a truck or dozer.

I think the type grease you are using maybe the issue? I was having many problems with the cheap grease from Tractor supply. Clogging up every zerk, melting out on the floor etc. I run only the mystik jt6 - walmart $3.65 tube. High temp grease and I use it in everything now. By the way I have two cases of cheapo grease if anyone on the eastside of Atlanta wants it!

I've got an ALEMITE that belonged to my Dad and his Dad before. Probably leaks and dribbles like you guys are saying but it pumps every time!
