Every grease gun I have had seems to leak grease/oily grease when it is stored. Anyone find a cure for this?

I made a holder for mine and have a couple of blue paper shop towels in the bottom. If they get nasty, out they come and into the wood burner for easy disposal. Then just stuff another in the bottom.

I've noticed that storing my Lincoln upright may help as I really don't have issues with it but I am the only one that uses it. I know the factory I used to work at we had a grease gun with hi-temp grease for a vulcanizer car. One day it would be fine, work great and come back the next it wouldn't work for ****. I guess when there's 18 guys in the work area, more than one could screw it up at any time. Spend 10 minutes to get it working again and greasing all the zerks only to come back in the next and SSDD.

So I'll add this tip, don't let anybody else use "your" grease gun if you can help it.

Another tip is using zerk extenders. One end of a tube screws in where the zerk would go, and the other gets the zerk and is placed where it's easy to get at. These are flexible lines so they can even be used on a part that is subject to back and forth motion.
