Haha, that's a great article. I'm definitely not wearing mine out with use. Feels like I'd just get them grimy and gritty.

I'm with the lube crowd also. I lightly lube my ball down before each use and sometimes I lube the hole for less friction and easier insertion.

I don't grease any kind of ball hitch or gooseneck around here but we do use these plastic washer deals on our farm implements that have a lot of tongue weight. They have greatly cut down the amount of wear the drawbar on both the tractor and the implement.
