That is a genius idea - I do exactly that. I tow a trailer a lot and that ball needs to be greased!

I'm with the lube crowd also. I lightly lube my ball down before each use and sometimes I lube the hole for less friction and easier insertion.

I don't grease any kind of ball hitch or gooseneck around here but we do use these plastic washer deals on our farm implements that have a lot of tongue weight. They have greatly cut down the amount of wear the drawbar on both the tractor and the implement.


That one happens to be on my manure spreader.
