Hows everyone doing? Today I was bored and decided to regrease my stubby ratchet cause it got pretty wet. Holy cow what a difference. I have done one other ratchet for the same reason "left it outside" with white lithium grease and was very pleased with it. Today I remembered I had some Royal Purple coupling grease and man did it smooth it up so well I did all my ratchets. Some of my older fine tooth round heads were sounding like 32 tooth junk now they are nice and smooth again. My lower tooth ratchets sound like fine tooth ratchets even my palm ratchet. I was wondering what you all use to repack your ratchets?

I use superlube grease or CorrosionX for oil. I like to take all the parts out, clean them off and lightly brush on a coating of superlube. Never pack a ratchet full of grease. It is not a wheel bearing, does not need to be packed tight and will NOT benefit from "a little extra". A light coating is all you need. For the really fine tooth count ratchets (more than 72 teeth) I like to clean all the parts and lightly wet everything with CorrosionX. Either method will keep your ratchets buttery smooth and reliable for years!

I use SuperLube products. Grease or oil, whichever is appropriate.
The super-fine tooth rats probably should be done with oil.
Old standbys like my S-K 45170 get the synth grease.

permatex engine assembly lube here, really smooths them out and quietens them up alot!

picked up a bottle for $5 at advance auto parts as a filler item. few drops on the ring gear.

I use Lucas engine oil additive, non- synthetic. I have been meaning to try some assembly lube, just to give it a shot. I hear grease can make cold ratchets stick sometimes. Even on new ratchets, it makes a big difference.

Good info guys I went with the coupling grease because it is the same as the assembly grease but with lithium additive. I didn't grease my torque wrench so now looks like I have one more to do.
