I have a crown weld on trailer jack that is a struggle to turn the top mount handle. So I took off the handle to remove the gears from the case and I cannot remove them. I've tried tapping but nothing is budging. My web search don't come up with anything for crown jacks and how to service them.
This is my first time with a trailer jack and thought the wisdom here could enlighten me before I attempt a BFH.

I would use some spray lubricant around the shaft at the top & let it work in , screw the jack up & down as well. a small drilled hole would aid getting grease in as well, drill it & put in a zerk?

I've used penetrating spray many times over months. The shaft turns so it is not stuck where I spray. It should drop out where I can remove the old grease and renew. But it doesn't.

A few things I run into with jacks on trailers at work. Is there any bend in the tube? Rust & road dirt & salt? You should be able to pull the handle off and have the tube drop out. You can try smacking the tube out by hitting the foot and working it out that way.

Put a tub under the jack, then mix Acetone 50/50 with ATF, and spray it liberally, dousing the **** out of it. What collects in the tub pour back into the sprayer and reapply. Unless it is really gummed up/rusted up, eventually the Acetone weeps into everything and carries the thin oil ATF with it. Then start working it to free it up, maybe even apply heat with a propane torch onto the exposed portion of the screw if possible to draw heat up the jack screw.
